Sorry I was being a bit coy, what I was getting at was, are the players that really selfishly shoot from 30-40 yards out like Townsend disproportionally benefited because when they miss it makes little difference?

LFC_USA/Elrazor would be sporting the jizziest of pants if the list had Coutinho/Eriksen up high.

It's hilarious how the mere presence of Vela combined with a clear lack of understanding in terms of what is being shown = rustled

Only if they shoot better from that position than the average player or run hot.

But the stats don't account for opportunity cost.

i really dont know anything about it other than the basic premise, but no. or at least, it seeks not to.

--

for the people that dont get it yet, i'll have another try:

the reason messi is >>>>> vela is because when vela gets the ball on the edge of the D he turns and takes a 0.1 xG shot, ie a shot which will result in a goal 10% of the time on average. vela, as we know from the $tat$, will convert that chance a bit more than xG would predict, so it'll go in ~11% of the time

messi gets the ball on the edge of the D, puts on his floppy blue wizard hat with yellow stars, does some sort of congolese ju-ju on the back 4, ends up 1 on 1 with the keeper and takes a 0.8 xG shot. messi converts even more often than xG predicts, so lets say it'll go in ~85% of the time.

the amount the two will convert their respective chances relative to what xG expects is not too different, yet messi scores way more often due to his ju-ju.

so hopefully i have demonstrated that two players can be quite close in terms of performance vs xG and yet miles apart in terms of production/value/talent and so on

der model is clearly flawed if Aguero/Suarez aren't amongst the top 20 finishers in the world.

Seeking recommendations for good pubs to watch footy this weekend in London and on Monday in Edinburgh. Availability of good beer is important. TIA

No good pubs in London.

Surely it's a case of Leicester having only lost to Chelsea at home since February and the yearly Spurs handicap of signing key players on deadline day.

It's going to be 88f in London tomorrow, so make sure the pub has air conditioning!

Regardless of who the game is against he won't be starting straight away. You have to assume that Rodgers will ease him in considering his horrific propensity to pick up injuries every time the wind changes direction.

BOUT TREE FIDDY (really, it was $359)

btw am I the only one who's suspicious of the fact that SWANZ have now drifted out to 2.1 to beat Sunderland this weekend? It feels like a trap.
08-21-2015 , 09:01 AM
I'm spamming the skype chat with it, but you guys are offline

also grats...treefiddy makes it that much sweeter
08-21-2015 , 09:07 AM
no. due to the fact that the trap is so obvious and so cavernous, everyone has piled on the other side to avoid the trap

like when the vietcong would install a visible punji stick trap on the ground, you'd go round the big rock to avoid it, trip a wire, and a big block of mud with sharpened bamboo sticks stuck in it would fall on your noggin. by avoiding the obvious trap you triggered the real trap

as usual, the correct thing to do is just to look at the fundamentals and ignore everything else: sunderland are dog**** therefore swanz will win 4-1

Of course, but level or down a goal at Old Trafford chasing the game, we're gonna throw on a freshly back from injury Daniel Sturridge to grab us the needed goal? I'm just terrified of him being made of glass. Bring him on at home against Norwich
