I don't think Memphis has been brilliant or anything, but to his credit, he is more or less the only one who is running behind. It's helping them a bunch.
With Mata wanting to drift inside behind it, and Rooney wanting to move toward the ball, they need a player to attempt to get behind.
And fwiw, Pedro wouldn't be an adnan replacement, he'd be a Memphis/Mata replacement and he'd be brilliant at it.
May be the actual best player in the world in terms of intelligent attacking movement without the ball. Dunno whether he would move Mata inside or what, but he'd help a bunchi f you're going to play Rooney up top and he's gonna play this way.
Entertaining enough game despite the fact only a few chances were created.
Utd's defence looks fairly solid, although Schneiderlin +1 other DCM is pretty much a lock to arguably make cbs look a little more secure than they actually are.
Mata the most aggressive Utd player with the ball, and was their most dangerous player, but is just lolbad defensively - fortunately for Utd Darmian is a pretty good foil for him.
Memphis looked ok, not quite up to pace, but can provide the runs that Mata looks for.
Rooney awful, Hernandez a much better fit for this Utd side and it's not even particularly close.
Villa looked ok. Ayew is a moron and will be a flop, and Vertout looked really off the pace, but Richards and Amavi both looked good - the former despite his kamikaze forays forward.
