James Milners nickname at Plop is Milly. What a bunch of bellends.

Arsenal are a kind of weird spot with xfers. Probably need a striker and dlp/dm player but no reason to pick anyone that isn't significantly better than what they have. Our current players are good enough but not elite world class and wenger has shown he won't click buttons at this point. So basically what cashy said f5 and wait for other pieces to move.

Schneiderlin . Decent debuts from Darmian and Bastian Faking Schweinsteiger as well!

don't get what turning your back on dumb stupid national anthems would prove except that you are stupid.

Personally I wouldn't face up to the flag either during the English national anthem. I see no problem with that given the history.

I guess that makes me stupid too

Went to Brisbane on Friday for the Liverpool game and have to say that Origi better be going out on loan somewhere this year as he has the football IQ of a rock.Space would open up for him to run into or a ball would be played towards him and it would take him a couple of seconds to react and start to move.

Ings looked OK ,Milner was very good and scored ,Henderson was good ,the defence looked as dodgy as ever,Lallana had a few nice touches and scored a nice goal and Ibe when he came on in the second half showed lots of good touches taking on and beating guys repeatedly.

In general we were devoid of creativity going forward which given the guys who played is probably to be expected but was disappointing.

Bloody Sunday Massacre which Mclean cites as the main reason for doing what he did is not even a drop in the bucket compared to Jallianwala Bagh Massacre which happened in my grandpa's hometown, and I am sure you are aware of further british atrocities toward India, but at worst, I would act neutral to indifferent to having to stand up to a british anthem because lol anthems.

Showing disdain to the anthem is just kind of like throwing your toys out of the pram levels of childish. Mclean's letter to Wigan chairman sounds like something a 10th grader would write. He's just tried to be an attention whore, which is stupid in my eyes.

The lack of education about British atrocities during the Empire is a problem in and of itself, but the troubles in Ireland were a lot more recent and still a contentious contemporary issue. McClean grew up in Northern Ireland, and it's all just really raw over there, it's not a surprise he doesn't want to (in his mind) kowtow to the English national anthem.

Aside from the drivel about the monarchy - "long to reign over us" - my biggest gripe with the English anthem is that it's an unbelievably **** tune, change it to Jerusalem ffs so we don't have to listen to that ear-turd anymore.

He is working for an English football club. He is hardly in a minority of one thinking that the queen is a **** but I would have sucked it up and stood there for it since I am getting paid and have to work with a bunch of English people every day.

Hoopie is right, if you take their money you respect their anthem
07-19-2015 , 08:12 AM
Won't allow it to be played on my telly (instant switch over) and I've never respected it in public - that's either by just sitting down and ignoring it or by vocally displaying my displeasure at having to hear it.

I'm not getting 20k pw from an English football team tho.

FFs he could have just stood facing same way as everyone else but warmed himself up by jumping up and down/running on the spot/star jumps/squats. Would have been funny at least. Another solution would be just to make an excuse and not appear for the anthems.

if there's a time and a place for sportsmen to make political points (and I'm rarely interested in what they have to say no matter what the context tbh), then that time and place is unlikely to ever be on the field of play.

marty : Man City is bringing Denayer back from Celtic, I know people have big hopes for him to be a great CB and he's definitely showing impressive flashes for his age but based on what you've seen of him last season, how do you think he will do in the PL ?

hilarious mental image of Marty scrambling for his remote so he can switch over whenever the national anthem is played.

Obviously I hope he does well but I'm not sure he is ready for a full season of PL action for a team chasing the title. Have my own criticisms of him and that would be he still plays too tight to his man/doesn't win enough first balls in the air.

Has improved immensely v stronger strikers as he was having a great deal of problems at the start of the season, he is quick as lightening and not only reads the game well but can actually play football.

Hope he proves me wrong but I think it'll be next season before we see how good he can be, still played hardly any football so the more experience the better for him IMO.

Can any of you guys access the WillHill Premier League predictor?

I read about it in yesterdays paper and just went to take a look but all I get is a blank white page.

I guess it may not be active yet but then why advertise it in national newspapers?

Will any of you guys have a go? It costs £2, you have to predict how the league will end up and the jack pot is £50miliion. There is also a £100k Christmas jackpot.
