Your predictions have been crap so far, so was very encouraged to read you were planning on betting big on Southampton in 5 days time.

If twisting the narrative is pointing out that Mourinho's Chelsea tends to be winning machines that won't get less than 90 points, and that Pellegrini's City have never been able to demonstrate the rigorous consistency of results needed to get above that, then I guess I'm 'twisting the narrative'.

lol, isn't everyone?

Tough games in quick succession against City and Arsenal before the United game.

people are pretty hard on ole pellegrini, oafk had a pop at him a few weeks ago and now jds talking about a lack of consistency or something - he won the league at the first attempt you know
12-03-2014 , 02:45 PM
I had a pop at him in the context of Baids therom, nearly lost the league to a clearly inferior Chelsea squad with Torres minutes and mediocre pivot, has so far struggled in CL, yet has spent lots of monies.

To the eye test Man City consistently look like less than the sum of their parts.

well pelle didnt force mou to go into the season with nando leading the line, can only beat what's put in front of you

also they won their last 5 or something to win the title so surely the contorted narrative should be that pelle gets it done when it counts
12-03-2014 , 02:48 PM
I think he's done well and certainly better than I thought he would. He's had far less money to spend than Mancini because of belt tightening. He achieved a points total that would be good for 2nd in over 90% of seasons last year; he ran good that Fergie retired and Mourinho hadn't been able to do the strengthening that he wanted.

He seems to have slightly tweaked the Mancini blueprint whilst being much more popular in the dressing room. It has been very gradual change rather than the Mourinho-style sledgehammer approach.

I think City are more likely to finish 3rd than 1st this season; they finish 2nd in 85% of runouts from here.

In what world is that remotely a counter point?

Nearly lost to a worse team, ha it was not his fault the team was worse.
WAT?

The whole point is his performance in relation to the worse team that nearly beat him, make the team better and there is nothing to remark on.

Poor guy gets no respect. I remember when he was hired by City, people (even decent footie journos) were sceptical because he had "failed" in his only season at a big club. That failure? Breaking Real Madrid's points record in the league (96 pts) but still finishing 2nd, 3 pts behind GOAT Barca.

#Arsenal v Southampton: Martinez, Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Ramsey, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis, Welbeck

meh without arteta and with "out of form" ramsey
schneiderlin is out for them though? makes things a lot easier
12-03-2014 , 02:53 PM
He seems like a decent enough manager, but as said, City often look like less than the sum of their parts.
12-03-2014 , 02:56 PM
think you're underselling chelsea squad strength by a fair bit

they were basically equal to city the year prior to pelle turning up. had a better GD in fact

what?
that's exactly the opposite what they have been under pelle as they have been a well-oiled attacking machine where everything looks automatic/"rehearsed"
chelsea on the other hand was less than the sum of their parts last season contrary to city purely relying on individual quality, swore not to watch mourinhoaids anymore so not sure about this season.

I'm always extra nervous when I see Flamini in the starting XI
Having Kos back is huge also hope that Santi continues his goat form today

Legooo boys.
12-03-2014 , 03:35 PM
I guess we want Chelsea/Sunderland/Arsenal/Hull wins...

Never like Arsenal winning but want Southampton at a super low ebb for Monday.
12-03-2014 , 03:36 PM
havent really watched arsenal this season as much as past 2 seasons but whats wrong with flamini? people was criticizing him half as much as you all seem to be doing this season.

Spurs draw and arsenal win would be nice
12-03-2014 , 03:38 PM
Nothing against him- he is just too limited and huge drop off from Arteta
12-03-2014 , 03:39 PM
Spurs 7/1? Now that is ridiculous

They haven't won at Stamford Bridge in any competition for 24 years!

I've never heard of Ryan mason until this season but after seeing maybe 3 or 4 spurs game this year I feel pretty confident saying he's their best player. Do spurs fans agree?
