What do you think Fisher's thought process was like? Was it more so "Bironas can't make it" or more so "Get the 1st down, waste more time then clinch the game."

I would say certainly the latter until they decided to run a route towards the end zone.

Just really don't understand the whole thought process at all.

I feel like he just called the play because of how bad ass it would look if it worked despite thinking about it's actual success % and Kerry Collinsaments.

What I bet he thought was really cool was seeing Haynesworth out for the season on the subsequent drive. GG Fischer.

You must know nothing about the football. Breaking the plane only applies to rushing TDs. For receiving, 2 feet in the endzone with possession of ball is a TD.

oh, so it makes complete sense that a team can be awarded a td when the ball never touches the goalline? this is idiocy. im not even sure that this rule is real. i mean, the nfl is ******ed but i have a hard time imagining they are this dumb.

Without the smartass response like the other guy..

I think it makes sense since the player is in the end zone. I feel its a lot like dragging the feet out the back end of the end zone and the ball never being actually in the end zone while possessed.

I don't really know whats right.. I just recall it being two feet in the end zone = score.. I think it came up a few years ago.

But being unsure on this rule surely does not show a lack of football knowledge.

I don't see anything in my rulebook stating that.

Quote:
Rule 11: Scoring
Section 2: Touchdown
Article 1: Its a touchdown:
a) When the runner advances from the field of play and the ball touches the opponents goal line (plane);
or
b) While inbounds any player catches or recovers a loose ball on or behind the opponents' goal line.

Chim I have a VERY hard time they would allow him to say that assuming he said it like 30+ minutes after the game and NBC obviously did research on the rule by then.

I mean you think NBC didn't read the rule book and just let Collinsworth say whatever? It's not like he said it right after the play, it was over 30 minutes after.
