Yeah, that was an awful shot from Dhoni. No footwork whatsoever, chasing a ball he shouldn't have been playing etc etc

I'm sure they could cram another slip or two into that cordon.

England will be pretty happy with a 67 first innings defecit, I'd say.

There is nothing better than a Test match between two closely matched teams like this. I may dislike Stuart Broad but he is proving he is a bit special.

Hi Shane.

2001 vs. Australia when we were following on, he made 180 in a classic 400+ partnership with Laxman. That match is still my favourite of all time

2002: In England we were 1-0 down at Lords (shocker) going in to Headingly and people had written us off because of the swinging conditions. We batted first and he battled hard for a gritty 148 when the ball was seaming and saw it off so Sachin and sourav could come in later and tonk the ball. He made 3 100's that series at an avgt. of 100+ that series.

2003: Touring Australia, they made 556 in 1st innings, and India were 83/3, with his trusted partner he rescued India again, and made 233. India went onto win that match.

There are many more but these 3 I remember clearly. Add to this the fact that he came in at no. 6 in the first example and is opening in this test demonstrates his immense value. He's a rock and will bat whereever the team needs him to, and will contribute facing the toughest conditions. That's something even Sachin doesn't do.

I have no idea how we'll find anyone to replace him..

Everyone talks about ashes 2005 being the best test series in recent years but I think this one trumps it. India were pretty much dead that series. Australia basically never enforce the foillow on because their still traumatised from that series lol.

IMO the best thing about Dravid is even though he is so defensively minded he has all the shots in the book and is just a great batsman to watch. Deserves more credit imo.

yea, that series was special.

Australia came in as the best side in the world on a 16 test match record breaking winning streak having not won a test series in India in decades. This series was being labelled as thier final frontier and they decimated India in the first test.

They made 450 batting first in the second. India all out for 171. Following on India were 200/4 and then out of nowhere came the comeback. The fact that it happened at Eden Gardens in front of 80k people makes it even more special. The last test was really good too, India won with just 2 wickets.

Anyone who's started following test cricket recently and not seen that series should check it out, it's unreal.

Aussies have been involved in some of the best contests in the last decade. The fact that they were so far above the rest as a team meant that some individuals had to raise thier game to extraordinary heights to beat them (VVS 281, Brian Lara 156)..

As an American who was living in Australia at the time, that 2001 series vs. India not only made me a huge fan of cricket (although the first series i ever saw, the one that taught me the game, was the 5-0 mismatch over the Windies immediately preceding the India tour), but convinced me that, at its best, Test cricket is the best and most exciting sport there is. To this day, i can't hear the words "Dravid" or "Laxman" without thinking about them batting out the entire 4th day of that 2nd Test, and whenever i see Harbhajan i see that 1st-innings hat trick with Eden Gardens going absolutely ape****, and his 15-wicket performance in the deciding Test when Australia almost made an amazing comeback as their bowlers fought back to take 6 wickets for 50 runs in the 4th innings when they were all but dead. Unfortunately, they needed 8.

Hell of an introduction to the sport, wasn't it,

think the match will be over today. can't see england winning, if we do we need one of the bats to make a 150 or so but can't see that happening

catching has been terrrible the whole series for england, can't keep giving chances.

So Trott definitely won't bat? He won't go out and hold up an end if, say, they're 9 down with Prior in and looking good and they don't have quite enough on the board?

Would be really nice to (1) see Bell make a big score batting at 3, and (2) have Morgan show a bit of his class - his place will soon be under threat if doesn't.

Can we get a gif of Raina getting bitchslapped by that Yuvraj high five? I can't stop laughing every time they show that slow motion replay.

So Bell's pretty good. He's attacking too, which is a big plus for England.

I do enjoy competitive cricket and great bowling and fielding, but watching great batsmen ply their trade in test matches is what I enjoy the most.

Right or wrong decision (looks like it's just carelessness from Bell), booing the umpires or the Indian team is really uncalled for.

lol, that's just stupid.

He was clearly going for another run and then kept walking once he realised what was going on..

I've seen much worse runouts than that.
