Raina is absolutely fine in my book, and I don't know of too many of my fellow comrades that hate him. He has some technical issues to sort out but his application is second to none amongst younger Indian bats.

Anyways, good start for England but it's nothing us Indian fans aren't used to by now . There's a reason we've never won a test at Lord's and it's as long as they keep holding the first test there that record is gonna remain intact.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafr...ry/525114.html Parnell is a Muslim??

Dhoni says Gambhir is doubtful for tomorrow. i can't believe he won't play given that he's not broken anything and india's squad is as threadbare as it gets. Obviously no Zaheer. Likely to be a result wicket which should actually help india.

dhoni was pretty loltastic after the last match giving loads of excuses. Even if he believes that they were unlucky etc he probably should try and be more magnanimous and give some credit to england if he doesn't want to come off as a ****.

india were unlucky in some instances - gambhir injury, tendulkar illness; but Zaheer getting injured is hardly unlucky given his obvious lack of preparation leading upto the tour, and what you got unlucky becauase the wicket didn't turn - lol that is ******ed - lords never turns and you decided to bowl first. the wicket started to bounce unevenly - yes again you decided to bowl first.

i quite like dhoni because he seems quite genuine but i didn't like all the excuses he gave after the game.

the fact is that england were the better prepared team, had the worse of the conditions, the worse of the umpiring decisions and yet still came out on top. india were unlucky but not as much as he suggested.

Re Kohli: if there are actually young indian batsmen higher in the pecking order than him then I don't have much fear for the future of indian cricket. Admittedly, I didn't watch any of the series in WI, but I've seen him play a few ODI innings and he looks about as good as any young batsman I've ever seen. They're going to give him 3 tests and that's it?

I'm a pretty big Kohli fan, but I don't really think you can include him in this particular series. Raina has much more test experience and is more accomplished in tests than Kohli which means that's he's going to be included ahead of him. Yuvraj sucks at tests, but he also has more experience. Mukund is an opener and he's had a really good domestic season, and he's only 21, so it only makes sense to groom an opener for the future who's done well in test matches. All the other spots are taken by bowlers/starting batsmen.

There's only 2 people he could have come in for, Yuvraj and Saha (and make Dravid the backup keeper.) But considering how big of a series this is, I think its the correct decision to put in Yuvraj (esp considering his WC performance.) I think he's going to start seeing more action after this series (atleast I hope.) Get rid of Yuvraj imo as he clearly has no test future (and he's failed many times despite getting plenty of chances.)

Unless the Indian team is better prepared and more fitter, I see England running away with this series.

Bah, not having lbw on review is just silly. afaict, it's the one part of the game that the review can prove almost categorically. That Cook dismissmal would've 100% been reviewed - my mum could see that was going over.

Watching highlights of the 2002 Eng v Ind series brings back some great memories for me. I've watched a lot of cricket in my time but watching Michael Vaughan batting in that series still remains probably my best cricket memories and cemented him as my all time favourite cricketer. Shame he missed out on those double hundreds tho.

Edit: that winter in Australia was probably more impressive for him, but I didn't see any of it live, and only caught a few highlights where he seemingly kept picking Stuart Magill's googly and pulling it for 4 every time. But it was his cover drive that was the GOAT.
