CHRISTOPHER GAYLE YOU BETTER APOLOGIZE..

He's only like your best player by a country mile.

WICB and PCB should really get along quite well at this point..

I love the Bumble/Warney commentary partnership. Talking about cricket is not a big concern.

Slight chance of victory for England? 200ish lead, rain inevitably arrives and puts a bit of moisture on wicket, manage to get enough overs in across a disjointed day and a bit to bowl them out?

Certainly possible considering how awful we've looked against the moving ball.

Thank god England are playing it safe and not going for a risky declaration when at best SL may bat through tomorrows bad weather or end up setting us 57 to win.

EDIT- Eng declare with a lead of 193.

We should win from here

Tomorrow might be a wash out.

Pending a washout then, but you know what I mean.

Yeah, would say so. It's just that it really doesn't look good for tomorrow at all. Would be a shame, I'd say we've been dominant enough for 2-0 to be about right.

Sangakkara to get out caught at short leg imo. Playing for the spin to one that doesn't turn much. Swann's really ripping some of these.

Cricket was huge in the USA well before baseball took off. It wasn't until the late 1800s that baseball overtook cricket.

thats what he was implying i think, that had cricket really set in properly cricket could be the third most popular sport in the world behind football and athletics in terms of participation etc...

I wonder if we will ever see a cricket ground with a retractable roof? Rain annoys the hell out of me.

I knew Cricket was in the US but had no idea it was "huge" then Rounders took over. Always assumed rounders had the popularity right off the bat and that's all she wrote.

Out of interest, has Baseball increased/ decreased in popularity in the last ~10 years?

Cricket has been on the decline for a while.

I think West Indies really needed to get India out for under 200 to make this a close match.

I don't think we've ever started well in the first innings of an away series..

Bhajji is becoming a genuine test match all rounder by Indian standards imo

@ no jacket

Australia played 3 odi's vs south africa/pakistan? In 2000 to celebrate the opening of the docklands stadium which has a roof. Iirc either hussey or gilly hit the roof on a 6 lol. The 3 odi's vs the world xi were played there too iirc...

I'd say decreased, at least relative to the other sports in the US. Obviously it depends on how you measure popularity, but in general I'd say (as far as spectator sports go, as opposed to participation), it's pretty clearly football, basketball, baseball, hockey in that order. Maybe slide NASCAR in before hockey. Go back 40 or 50 years and baseball was by far the major sport in the US.

40-50 years ago Cricket was far more popular too. Other than international matches people just don't turn up.

For league games the crowds range from ~200- 5k plus being a monster gate. Shame really.

i always found it ironic that the australian open tennis has more roofed courts (2) then the other 3 combined, and we play in the aussie summer.

I dont like 20/20 much however if the game hopes to expand to new places 20/20 is the only hope. I actually think that in terms of a sporting product its as much marketable potential as any in the world atm. They just got to be smart and do things right. I think it could do reaslly well in the US fwiw

Definately, I don't think anyone would disagree that t20 is the best way to attract a new audience. Plenty of 6's and 4's, party atmosphere, and the game is over in 3 hours..

Then once the person gets interested in the game he'll eventually graduate to 50 overs and then test cricket.

It's going to be impossible to explain to a cricket noob why seeing a good batsman battle to save a test on the fifth day can be a fascinating contest..
