I guess it shows the advantage of bowling third in these types of these types of games. Pretty funny though, as is the BBC text commentary - they use the word 'pointless' about 5 times before play started.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Rather incredibly, Kent have already won their second game of the season. Although it seems we couldn't resist a late clatter of wickets chasing 155

Pretty pissed off with Hampshire winning tonight. Obviously they play well when I lay them.

£5m was bet on betfair during the game.

Personally I hope 2020 stays as a cup competition.

And lol Afridi, PCB didn't allow him to play for Hamps following his comments.

I've been saying it for years, now it seems the players agree; the BCCI has gotten too big for its boots.

Wicket is meant to be an absolute belter today.

Win the toss and bat for the best part of 2 days.

LOL SRI LANKA, WIN THE TOSS AND BOWLING!

i hope sri lanka try and take wickets today rather than bore the batsmen out by bowling wide of the offstump.

otherwise it could be another yawnish day because i can't see cook or trott getting bored and throwing their wicket away

Yeah, I'm here. Lovely day

First wicket not my fault tho, I was late and didn't see it. Not too worried tbh, we've still got plenty to come and a better attack too. Gonna be a good afternoon of cricket imo

you should set your expectations higher imo.

though I confess I set the bar too low yesterday as well — when we were 22/3 after 45 minutes or so, I made a close of play prediction of just 300/6

I wish I had tickets for today too, but then again I probably ought to play some poker at some point.

One of the most amusing and fortuitous ways to make a century you'll see in a while.

carnage this morning; edges, slogs and good shots. Just the 108 runs in 14.5 overs for these two.

Great knock by Prior

We should just declare now though, and have five or six overs at their top order before lunch

I really trust our batting in test cricket these days. So many classy batsmen that you feel that >3 are going to do it almost every time. Bowling wise, I think we lack a real world class fast bowler. Anderson just isn't quite it, imo. I think he was a good foil to a fit and firing Flintoff but lacks something as the main man. I feel that without Swann we would be really, really struggling. I guess you could say that about Australia without Warne and maybe we're seeing it in Sri Lanka without Murali, though.

In limited overs, where you have to be more reactive in both batting and bowling, I trust us much less. You can see the batsmen struggling to know exactly how to approach different situations. I believe we're getting better, but it's not a natural thing as test cricket seems to be.

I think England have the best fast bowling attack in world cricket at the moment but what do I know.

I dont see how any combination of fast bowlers england uses, beats the Steyn Morkel parnership.

I don't think any team stands out as obviously having the best pace attack in the world. I might give it to South Africa myself, and you could argue for Australia too even though they're not nearly as strong as we've become used to.

I don't think we've a bad pace attack, I just think it's a bit 1-dimensional. I'm talking about the difference between being very good and elite.

I think we are in an era of not many standout bowlers full stop. I would give the edge to South Africa as a pace attack but there is deffo an arguement that England as an all round attack with Swann are the current best in the world.

If Pakistan actually put out their most talented line up aside from whether they are bent or not, they would be up there as well.

Oh and lol at Australia getting mentioned in this conversation, they struggled to get 10 wickets at times never mind 20 in the Ashes.

England definately have a better balanced attack than SA because they have a decent spinner, I agree though that there is no attack that really stands out in World cricket atm. Pakistan would be an interesting pick if they had Mohammad Amir to support Gul and Saeed Ajmal..

Imran Tahir looks to be a very good spinner IMO.

Two wickets in three balls at Lord's, Sri Lanka still 92 runs behind, and things just got interesting again.
