Godammit, the one time I don't Sky+ the IPL game to whizz through in the evening I miss Gilly proving he's not totally passed it and a 206 run partnership. If Gayle gets going too I'm gonna be even more pissed :-(

The team batting second seem to win a lot more often then the team batting first. Anyone have any stats on this?

Exciting start to the English test summer...

test cricket is back at last

and back to what others were saying, the best way to improve test cricket is to stop creating super highway cricket pitches that make it impossible to bowl a side out under 600. The bests recent series ive seen recnetly have all been in England because the bowlers have the advantage over the batsmen. Its also where the really great batsmen stand out over the standard flat track bullies that are dime a dozen

Glad England went for Tremlett over Finn. He's the perfect foil for Anderson and Broad imo. He consistently bowls that kind of length that Harmison did for a short period when he went on that tear.

I thought Tremlett was about your best bowler last summer, dont wtf people see in Finn though, bowls pies.

Any thoughts on Kumar Sangakkara's dismissal after referral by England?

Given that snicko isn't being used on UDRS, I think it's a pretty marginal call to overturn the on-field decision.

After about 1000 replays and hotspot replays, and then Snicko later, the correct decision was probably made.

But whether they got to that decision fairly is debatable. I'm not sure there was enough concrete evidence to overturn the decision at the time. Sangakkara can count himself unlucky in my book

I didn't see it but even Agnew on the radio wasn't too miffed, and he hates the referal system so it couldn't have been that bad

I really hope there is something in the pitch, but I fear a dull draw with the batting strength out there.

Shows what you can do if you have a brass neck. I think it's fairly obvious what the moral of this story is......

Spoiler:
...there's still hope for me too

Well pretty good day for us. Need Mahela to stick around for another 2 sessions to have a chance. Terrible selection picking Prasana Jawardene in a 5 bowler attack. Ant where the f did Maharoof come from. Why not pick an in form Vaas who's doing better in county cricket (and is a much better batsmen these days).

Prob the correct decision but certainly the most marginal overturn I've seen with the new system.

This morning of cricket so much better than the IPL Hopefully Samara and Prasanna go after Swann after lunch because both look ordinary against the moving ball

how broad got this second new ball is beyond me and he always get his ******ed referral. quite a bit of uneven bounce already in the pitch although the wicket is slow.

both teams bowlers are pretty underbowled. broad and swann have hardly bowled all season. even with the uneven bounce and pace i think the match is gona be a draw, given the weather and the fact that the wicket is slow and bowlers have not had much practice

lol broad. broad should have 5 referrals just for himself

Maharoof can't get a bat on it though. Just pitch it up a little more.

Making Broad 20/20 captain could prove to be a mistake imo. Looks like a petulant kid aorn. Still, how bad can it be when you're only in the field for 20 overs.
