About the rankings, we in Australia never really gave a damn until we lost the #1 mantle. We just knew we were the best etc... and even when we werent according to the rankings, we just played the RANGZZZ card, plus we owned England in all series bar one between 89-09 and had recently won in India IIRC and South Africa.

Since then, we are now about 4th in my rankings at a guess, still better then Sri Lanka IMO, South Africa and India and England are the best three sides the a gap imo...

How are you planning on doing your trip?

If you book the whole tour through an official tour party they'll have guaranteed tickets as part of the package. Make sure you book early, as in the day the brochures come out - these usually sell out very fast indeed. I'm sure you can find the official Australian tour companies on the internet.

But if you're gonna do your own thing then you'll basically have two choices, as the MCC membership waiting list is something like 20 years.

1) Try to get a ticket through the public ballot. The ballot application forms go out sometime aroung the preceding October. You'll need an obliging UK-based friend to whose address the form/tickets can be sent.

2) Get fleeced by a tout on the day



Whatever, should be good fun, already looking forward to it.
