I 100% don't get how that can be considering cheating in any way? If Carey had waited until Bairstow moved to throw the ball at the stumps then yeah 100% agree it's scummy but he literally threw it straight away when Bairstow was still in the crease

What were they meant to do, withdraw the appeal because Bairstow is an idiot?

Yeah and that was the thing it was all in the one action from catching the ball to throwing it and Bairstow moved before the over was called and the ball was dead. He needed to pay more attention but that is Bairstow for you

That was different because bell was clearly walking off for end of session

If it had been a bad throw Bairstow would have takena run and no-on would have even thought to object to it.

Entirely Baristows fault. Dare I suggest he is maybe mentally very tired from trying to keep wicket properly.

To me its like declaring you have the nuts at showdown when you dont and the other player mucks their hand. Yes the pot is yours and the other player is an idiot for mucking but you are still a scumbag.

I just find it hilarious you Poms were arguing for letter of the law interpretation yesterday and want to give it all away today Cricket: Random Discussion Thread

Protecting our number 8 when we need 120 odd is disasterous.

Well they're entirely different things and continuing to compare them is stupid. Both were trivial decisions based on letter of the law but the catch had nothing at all to do with spirit of the law whereas Bairstow's dismissal was only about that.

There was zero decision to be made by the players with the catch, there was one with the stumping/run out.

Feels like Stokes should be dabbing for quick twos not trying to smash

If it was me I would take the easy runs and let Broad face Green.

They won't do it because our team is superior to the aussies (and to me), but I would be attempting a minimum of 1 mankad per over at headingley

Nowt wrong with a mankad imo as long as a warning is given first, if you've been warned and continue to try gain an advantage then you deserve to be mankaded

No warning. People know the laws and abide by them. No one warns people for stumpings.

FYI I have no objection with Bairstow being out, it's unfortunate, leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, but within the laws.

If Green steps up today my doubts will be alleviated somewhat for his bowling but a bigger question mark remains if he is too indeed 'green' to be playing test match cricket

Wow Stokes what an effort, shame they came up short

An extra 50 runs from JB wouldve been handy...

Really helped I feel going to bed with 75 to go with Stokes still out there smashing the ball and waking up hoping we had won and worked. Great innings but in the end really think their short bowling tactics backfired on them and really hard now for you Poms to take back that urn
