Runners haven't been allowed in tests for a while now.

presumably aus are going to go full bouncer from the word go. fascinated to see what we do

i note that despite half the balls in this match being bouncers we are yet to see a single 6

lyon plodding half way down the pitch and then hopping the rest once the 6 is saved is an instant classic. if they win by a couple of runs then build that guy a statue in the middle of the austrailian parliament

So this is a "catch" where I don't necessarily agree with the laws because he clearly had control of the ball and I think would have definitely held onto the ball without using the ground but it's also very clearly not a catch by the actual law because the law doesn't care about control of the ball (in terms of during the process of the catch, it obviously matters for when the catch is completed) just whether it touches the ground.

this is the agony zone. just enough chance to win that you cant give up, but at the same time you know its totally ****ed. zak crawley is a buffoon of the highest order.

Also anyone comparing this to the Smith catch by saying "did Smith have control of his body?" (so far McGrath and Ponting) is an idiot. Control of the body was not relevant at all to that one, the only important question in that catch is whether the ball actually hit the ground or if his fingers were under it.

markt has us winning this 1 in 6

add another couple of draw percentage points for inexplicable torrential rain or just stop oil tomfoolery

Yeah my brother has given me a ticket for day 5 and i was lowkey hoping for a couple extra wickets so i wouldnt have to go all the way to Lords to see the Aussies roll to victory in an hour. Now it feels just enough hope to go but most likely will be a procession.

Zak Crawley defo has incriminating pictures of the England selectors.

Welcome to Wagner's world.

Its been effective for a long time for him, Im surprised more quick bowlers havent emulated the plan sooner. Probably havent because its backbreaking work banging it in every ball

approximately half of Ian Botham’s 383 test wickets were from mistimed hooks or edges to unnecessary wide slashes at innocuous balls

I can't believe this is a controversial incident

Quote:
33.3 Making a catch

The act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement.

It clearly wasn't completed before the ball hit the ground. It's not out. McGrath is a moron

Yep def not a catch, stupid play by Starc

I did enjoy the clip of McGrath blowing up though, just like the old days every time he got hit for a boundary
