Thats not true, a couple of our batters had an ok knock for a day 5 pitch and our bowlers actually had a good start before it fell apart

Yesterday india scored no runs and took no wickets. At no point did a single thing go their way lol

Another 100 for Root. Awesome.

Root moved up from 41st to 17th on the list for most Test runs ever in a calendar year. Will top the list if he can score 391 runs in his remaining 5.5 Tests. If he scores one more century this series, he will have scored more centuries against India than any other player ever has.

In our domestic game, we don't play the format we play at the international level. It's only recently that the one day tournament has gone to 50 overs to mirror ODIs. For years we had a ridiculous 40 over Sunday cup and a 60 over one day tournament.
We need to reduce the county numbers to allow for 5 day championship cricket and have a 50 over and a T20 tournament bookending the season.
How many/which counties would you get rid of?

Personally I like that schedule you mentioned but I doubt the bean counters would go for it.

The cricket crowds are getting as bad as darts. I'd be spewing if I spent a century to sit next to that.

Is England just giving India a sporting chance atm?

lose a few more quick qickets and it's all setup for Pant to do a Botham

England need to learn to turn the screw. Bairstow, Butler and Ali between them should have put this beyond even a miracle reach

I'd basically reduce the 5 day championship to counties with test standard grounds.

Middlesex, Surrey, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Hampshire Glamorgan and (fortunate for them) Durham.
8 counties - 1 Wales, 2 London, 1 south coast, 2 Midlands and 3 northern. Nice even spread. I'd prefer to dump Glamorgan, but it is the England and Wales Cricket Board...

Ditch the Hundred. Allow the other counties into the 50 over comp and have IPL style auctions for the T20 comp using the 9 championship grounds for the franchises.

Job done, although it would mean me sacrificing my favourite time watching Surrey at Guildford.

Waiting for play to resume at old Trafford while cold drizzle falls on you is the most arduous physical and mental task known to mankind.

Well FML. I had an offer of a free £2 bet, and put it on a draw at 8/1, thinking that it was ridiculously good value, until I realised that it was the end of the second day not the third.
Still think I am drawing live unless the Indian bowlers regain their earlier form or the English batsmen do their regular thing of collective batting amnesia.

So I think yesterday showed that we're in trouble in Australia. If the conditions aren't helping we ain't getting wickets...

best way for England not to get thrashed is to not tour for family reasons. Otherwise we’re rooted

India 8/450 after trailing by 99 on the 1st innings, phenomenal effort.

England will do well to save this, their 290 in the first innings was poor.

India have just done enough to put a successful England run chase out of the equation I think.
Don’t think that the pitch has deteriorated enough to make an India victory a foregone conclusion.
So I think that I am still drawing live to the glorious free £16.

England's target is 368 (from 126 overs), a target they have never chased successfully.

I rate England's winning chances at 0.0%. An Indian victory easily the most likely result.

In the last 50 years, England has faced 120+ overs just five times to save a Test match.

290 needed at 3.23 per over

Weather forecast looks similar for tomorrow. Unless 3 or 4 give away their wicket England are never being bowled out in a day on this pitch. Draw looking likely.

its about draw 40%, india 33%, england 27% on der markt

i fancy there to be a result one way or the other. the two openers scored pretty quickly this evening despite playing not to get out

Lay India or England dnb for me. England have enough batting to shut up shop if they do lose a couple or aren't hitting the rate.
