Seriously? Why do you say Warner has been bad?
Drop Marsh and give me Matty Wade, he’s over in England absolutely murdering the county bowlers and scoring runs like a man possessed. I’d argue he’s been the most in form Aussie batsman for the past 6+ months, only he hasn’t been given a chance at the top level.

Warner is getting a bit of a bumrap because he is playing a different style and being asked to be an anchor. He has looked shaky in spots, but come through and made bank runs (was leading the tournament when I posted it) and in later stages had a reasonable enough strike rate (some games such as the Afghan game he had no motive to bat faster than 70). Sharma is as good of a shout as anyone though.

Stokes has done jobs when required. His innings vs South Africa when things could have gone off the rails was excellent, and he nearly got them home vs Sri Lanka if someone at the other end could have held on. If anything, he is missing for lack of opportunity, when he has bowled more he has also been good (vs Bangladesh)

Morgan I will spot as a stuff up, that was an over-valuation of recency bias and vs a weak team.

Malinga other than his one game vs England (as good as it was) has done nothing in the tournament so far. Cottrell has the best catch of the WC (don't @ me Stokes fans), and has taken wickets almost every game.

Either way it doesn't matter, the clear best answer was Amir (who I clearly had forgotten)

Should be an interesting afternoon.
It’s hard to gauge how good the Aussie total really is.
We could knock it off in 40 overs or could be bowled out in 40 overs.

I’ll probably end up eating my words, but I’ve never rated Lyon as a white ball bowler. He should go for plenty and could be the key.

Nice job England to bring the fail in the first over.

What's the evidence Vince is anything other than a crappy international opener?

Once again people fooled by England's success in matches that do not matter.

Current odds on England making the semis?

Nice to see you guys and everyone buying England's blatant sandbagging. You watch, they will get one more win (or have or two wash-outs), squeak into the semis and then will start playing. Where will the "lol England" be then, hey?

England’s record in her last 11 games vs India NZ and Australia in CWCs

10 losses 1 draw

To win WC now has to beat India NZ then two of the above 3 in the semis and final

The word Toast springs to mind, and I ain’t no England hater

Ya I got some but not due to your post which i didn’t see. Good IDing of blatant fake odds though. Staggering England were favourites for anyone who had been watching (and actually understanding what they were watching)

To be serious, who gives a **** about past WC results from many years ago when it wasn't even the same team? I don't think England under performed that much in the past to be honest, they just weren't that good and never focused on white ball cricket as much as others. This failure, if it happens, would be way worse in that sense.

The reaction suggests to me that many people don't really get how much variance there is with this form of the game.

As for the rest of the group - one win is surely likely to be enough? If it's two coin flips then obviously England are likely to go through and it's just a flipament from then on. If they do get there then the chance of winning is probably not that much less than it would be if they breezed through winning 8 games. That's the problem with the format.

It probably 3 results required out of 4 for Bangladesh winning and England losing. Pretty unlikely.

Not sure what you two mean ^^. If England only win one more/2 they have 10 points. Pakistan are very likely to finish on 11

I meant that for purely Bangladesh winning (posted before Pakistan vs NZ)

At the time, Pakistan would have needed to be all of NZ, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, which is probably a 20% shot since they would be underdogs to NZ.

Now that they have cleared the hardest hurdle, then yes, I do see England needing to win both a decent chunk of the time, wins for Pak over Afgh and Bangladesh over India would guarantee they would need two wins.

Yeah that Pak V NZ result was pretty bad for England. Dammit. Some bad weather would have helped England, maybe, but it looks like there will no issues there for a while.

**** it.

How has it come down to this.

So, go SA today I guess.
