Lol England. Picked James Vince for the Ashes. I'm sure the Aussies are quaking in their boots knowing a guy averaging 14 is coming in at 3.

England are going to get absolutely hammered in Australia

And the batting isn't the problem.

I have no idea at all how England are going to bowl Aus out once per game, let alone twice. Unless something something Mason Crane*.

If Starc, Cummings and Hazlewood stay fit I can't see Oz losing but let's not confuse their batting line up with any of the great sides.

Strewth - not a good look for Stokes. If brawling at 2:30am on a street is not bad enough, he took ages to put down a drunken idiot.

May as well ban him from the tour. That'll teach him. England are going to lose anyway.

Aye, that'll learn him....if he's not playing in the Ashes he's free to go make mirrions playing in the big bash.

Obviously the Aussies want him banned, he's the best player of either squad by some distance.

Thought this list of 10 things, Stokes could think about (not) doing, was fairly funny ..

(from Dennis does cricket)

1.Punching Lockers

2.Breaking your hand from punching lockers

3.Punching humans

4.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub

5.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender

6.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender and you are in the middle of an international series

7.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender and you are in the middle of an international series and you are the team’s Vice Captain

8.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender and you are in the middle of an international series and you are the team’s Vice Captain and there’s an Ashes series coming up

9.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender and you are in the middle of an international series and you are the team’s Vice Captain and there’s an Ashes series coming up and breaking your hand in the process

10.Punching humans while drunk outside a nightclub when they have their arms raised in surrender and you are in the middle of an international series and you are the team’s Vice Captain and there’s an Ashes series coming up and breaking your hand in the process and then mocking a disabled kid.

11.Don’t bowl the last over of a World T20 final (This is a bonus tip. Buy 10, get 1 free kinda thing)

Daily Mail (ugh) reporting that Stokes confronted two strangers who were shouting homophobic abuse. If true this is a best case scenario for Stokes, the only one where he comes out with some credit.

Not sure what to make of that. He used that stupid voice, but that bit was the question posed to Harvey Price. Not saying it's not ****ty by him, but it's not full on mocking. No doubt he comes across as a real pi.ss head though.

First blood to England with the Australian squad announced. I mean seriously what were they thinking in selecting Paine and Marsh. We already had one hand on the urn and they go ahead and do this.

The selection of Paine who is not even playing for his state (Wade is) just defies belief, especially looking at his numbers in the last 3 years in that he could barely get a game for his state even when Wade was keeping for Victoria. Just because you scored a 50 against England in one of their lead up games doesn't give you a berth in the Australian line up.

As for Marsh, well I am surprised that the selectors didn't apply that same thinking as they did for Paine and promote Cowan from grade cricket to playing for Australia with his numbers last season. Bat him at 3 and Khawaja at 6 would have been an ok move but now with that batting line up we are basically depending on our bowlers to get the job done which they probably will but it will be closer than what it ought to be. **** me give me the ****ing job of being a selector!

On the eve of the 1st Test :

Australia 1.76

Eng 4.1

Draw 5.1

It will be a good toss to win and bat, but, think Aus will win over the series, and havent lost in Brisbane for 29 yrs.

Here is a graph of the in-play trading, from the 1st test, in 2015 Ashes : (cardiff).

Should be a great series.

Very odd stuff with some of the Aussie selections, but I don't think it makes much difference. Losing Starc, Hazlewood or Smith may make a difference but with some of the players they could pick a random from state cricket without impacting the odds much.

Personally, if Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins stay fit I can't see England getting much out of the series. If a couple of them break down then who knows.

Yeah should be good, though it's Australia's turn to win down under given we won the last one in 10/11 and they won the one before that in 02/03. I'm definitely not missing out any series in between those, don't trigger my PTSD.
