Well I missed the first hour (thanks to train cancellations and the lazy sods at London Underground going on strike again) but got back just in time to see Michael Clarke shell a sitter at first slip off Jonathan Trott.

Glad Cook went on and made a big score, very impressed with the scoring rate; we could easily be declaring half hour before tea with an impregnable lead, and have about 35 overs at them.

From what I've seen since I got in, Shane Watson looks like the only bowler creating any kind of threat, not bad considering his main job is opening the batting. The rest of them look pretty meh. Johnson and North are surely gonna get dropped.

If you have zero chance of losing the match, why would you not give yourself the maximum chance of winning the match?

You think we can go 8 an over? 3.3 for this innings.

Get to 300, even with 35 overs left will put a lot of pressure on Australia

62 overs left (-2 for the change of innings), 218 ahead.

Batting for another 10, score at run a ball, pushes the target up to 278 which = 5.5 per over.

Think Oz would go for that?

Yes! If they lose a few they will defend but would be stupid in my opinion to not have ago at 280 or fewer

Thats why imo these two should have ago a bit more, still got bell, kp collingwood. If its gets to 35 overs left and no declare wasted opportunity i think.

Lol Bumble. He's so disinterested in the cricket that he's trying to initiate an in-depth conversation on choice of token when playing Monopoly

When Simon Hughes did whatever they called the Channel 4 version of Sky's 3rd Man, they did a whole thing on this during an interval a few years ago, where Hughes held a ball close to the ground. On the long distance camera it looked like it was on the ground and not out, yet a camera next to him demonstrated it was a good two inches clear of the ground.
