Youre right about the venue

These days early wickets are nice but if you dont get them you need exponents of reverse swing for the later overs

All our seamers have that ability

Hmm this pitch seems like a road and the swing is almost all gone already jfc

This is close to the most pedestrian attack I've seen in Australia, the Sri Lankan quicks last time they toured were poor but at least they had some decent spinners.

If you can't bowl faster than mid 130's in Aus your going to owned. It needs to be 140+ and/or hitting the deck hard.

NZ are 1 for 600 this tour and 500 of those runs came against the reserves in favourable bowling conditions

There was a time when you could tell the difference between an aussie pitch and a non turning Dubai strip

First game touring teams are always underdone, especially when the hosts hijack your preparation

How long until MCCullum calls this off because of the dangerous pitch?

lolol at calling the draw. Aus going to declare tomorrow at 600 and bowl NZ out twice with a follow on more like it.

Yep Milne keeps getting these little niggles and noone wants to rush him back

Kawaja looks a class act but it's tough to draw any conclusions when he's batting against a park cricket attack.

Worst day one ever (When Nz have been bowling anyhow) Time to hit the red bulls and sleeping pills I think.

Saw Milne at this young professional event in Palmerston North last week. He won the golf competition we had there. Didn't look like there was anything wrong with him.

Khawaja has always been a class act, they should have persisted with him previously.

I haven't seen any of the day's play and this might be a road but let's see how the kiwis fare. They could easily get skittled for 200 if the Aussie attack is on song.

Never really liked the "don't judge until both teams have a go" theory in situations like this.

Even if it is an absolute road, it's almost always harder for team two to bat on it because they've been chasing the ball round the field in the heat for two days and have to bat tired, while team one's bowlers have been resting up indoors and get to bowl fresh. It's not really a fair comparison. Plus, by day three there will be 180 overs worth of footmarks to aim at.

All that said, well played to Aussie batters, and even though I didn't see any of it, nor will I see much through the series because of the time, I expect it was entertaining to watch Warner doing his thing, even if he is an annoying **** sometimes.

Best day to bat in Brisbane is days 2 & 3. I'm not talking about the 'wait til both teams bat' comparison I'm saying there's traditionally enough in the Brisbane deck for the likes of Starc and Lyon to run through the kiwis.
