Cielo it depends. Generally the top opening partnerships will not be even odds for two teams.

Talking about today's match, one of delhi's biggest strengths is it's opening partnership: warner and Sehwag. So i can see how they're underdogs yet even against chennai on that front.

Highest sixes is again a similar story. Delhi has a couple of big hitters who when they come off can single handedly match chennai, however since sehwag does not hit alot of sixes i think chennai should be a slight favourite on six hitting if it isn't imo.

Delhi's problem is it's depth in batting, they have 3 solid players at the top and then nothing much afterwards, teams generally need solid batters all the way down to number 6-7. So if two of those three come off delhi can beat anyone, if they dont they will probably lose. Hence some parameters like opening partnership are skewed even though delhi is a decent underdog overall in the matchup.

i assumed Dhoni's "helicopter" shot was some sort of exaggerated pull shot or something when people refered to it, I watched him do it today and it's actually a strange shot that I can't really describe and I don't think anyone else does it. Weird.

It's an exaggerated flick that he uses to hit balls from outside off to around midwicket but the power he gets from it is insane.

Haven't posted in here in ages, felt I was wasting too much time and decided to go cold turkey to focus on other things, but had to come back to say holy f*** @ Gayle

It was like he was playing Brian Lara Cricket with all the cheat codes activated

How has he not got the highest IPL salary? At least among batsmen, there's nobody to touch him.

He's clearly MVP - top run-scorer for the last two years, and pretty much a lock to be top scorer this year too, has more T20 centuries than the next two best put together.

An absolute joy to watch (even if T20 isn't proper cricket )

+1, lol Australia

The only way Haddin makes sense is if Wade plays as a specialist batsman. If not, then it's a disgraceful selection.

Rogers is an ok selection imo

But honestly selection is becoming a huge joke, I don't think anyone has any idea who is picked. I'm not a Steve Smith fan but dropping him was lol considering he was one of our better batsman in a horrible India tour. The whole set up is a joke imo and I can't see how anyone can have any faith in the set up short term or long term. The are building to achieve nothing.

Happy for Chris Rogers that he's got a shot, but it's pretty lol that you guys have to rely on grizzled old pros like him.

Still dirty on Chris Rogers for bailing on Western Australia at a state level, just like Katich before him.

Unless they think he is very likely a starter in the first 6 then I would have preferred the last batsman picked spot be taken by someone like Callum Ferguson

Chris Rogers is a great pick. He scores a lot of runs in County Cricket in England. The Aussies probably should have picked more "oldies". Phil Jaques is still knocking around.

I always was under the impression Jaques was a bit uncorordinated and probably a bit lucky to play any test cricket. He'd probably be captain if he were around now though lol.

Yeah I think Rogers will definitely start given how technically poor our top order is. Can't see any of Warner, Hughes, Watson or Haddin doing much damage on English pitches. Roger's has been crushing domestic cricket for a long time now, has a strong record in England and a solid defence and temperament - pretty much the opposite to Haddin.

I'm particularly scathing of the Haddin selection. He has a good record in domestic cricket because he's a flat track bully of the highest order. He won't do anything in England because he can't move his feet. Also lol at bringing him in for "leadership". As a batsman he's seemed to prone to panic and occasionally stupid, perhaps even selfish decisions imo.

At least Mitch Johnson isn't going, our bowling attack is pretty strong actually, especially if Harris can stay fit.

He's isn't 34 yet and he gets his runs but I agree he doesn't look stylish. He is playing for Yorkshire so he's used to English conditions. Maybe he'll get called up.
