Yeah, that's 3rd for all players with >20 innings. His SR is also fourth highest of all players by the same criteria and only one person with higher also averages over 30.

A quick cricinfo tells me Gayle is ~5th for those who have more then 10 T20 innings, and of those, has the second best strike rate behind Andrew Symonds.

He is by far the first pick if I am picking a team straight away, with probably Watson second based because of his all-roundness.

Sick partnership, but they were too far behind scoring only 50 odd off the first 8 overs.

Yea the combination is what's deadly. Add that to the fact that he's probably underperformed for the Windies since he's not played for them much in his prime (last 2 years).

He takes the lowest amount of risk to hit sixes in world cricket, and makes a 50+ score every other innings and when he does his SR is never below 150.

You guys are obviously behind on WI team selection.

5 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 1 all rounder and a captain

Also you can't compare opener to middle order batsmen in T20. Averages are skewed because lower order batsmen get a lot of not-outs.

I think Virat Kohli will become a better batsmen than Sachin Tendulkar. Guy is in unreal form lately.

South Africa in all sorts of trouble early.

On phone so cant elaborate fully but i agree that you cant compare openers and 3s against middle order batsmen but its not just because of the not out factor but middle order guys dont get powerplays to make easier boundaries and some middle order guys have to resort to slogging straight away which is bad for averages

this is really painful to watch - worst offensive cricket ever

5 runs per over

Given how slow this pitch is i really hope india plays sehwag, there is probably no one better on these types of pitches. There was an ipl game where no one crossed 20 because the pitch was turning square and sehwag made like 87 off 50.

Lol if we go with 3 spinners, considering we also have 3 part timers that bowl spin.

Meh.

We're still probably favorites since its a slow track and we won the toss, but i'd pick viru over like 4 batsmen in these conditions.

Sehwag was voted the number one power hitter on one of those polls as well lol...

Pitch slower then a week of Sundays

Solid win but would have liked to see our middle order do a bit.

Serious mancrush on the warner and Watson partnership. i was a huge watto hater years ago but im finally on the bandwagon the last 12 months

I reckon even England would have a fair chance if they had Warner & Watson opening for them. I swear Watson wasn't a big hitter at all for years afther he first played, but he hits sixes with ridiculous ease now.

Just noticed that Finn has 6 of the 10 fastest balls in the tournament so far. He's pretty badass.

Finn's issue with knocking over the stumps is incredibly annoying. Didn't effect the outcome of that match but with as close as some of these matches have been it will sooner or later. ICC need to rule it a no ball imo. Would also solve that silliness a couple of seasons ago of bowlers running out the non-striker in the delivery stride.

Aussies really own SA in world cups. Pakistan will be happy with 145-150 here. They have top bowling .
