I reckon the mum part was just to add extra impetus to the claims. The bushpig I can accept as Warner was having a go at his fitness or so Paine says.

I really don't see why the WC can't be the format the football WC had when there were 16 teams: 4 groups of 4, top 2 in each group qualify for the quarters.

If they are that desperate for securing the Indian TV cash - have the group teams play each other twice if you want to lower the variance. (Would be a pointless format, but w/e).

Ofcourse both these teams should already be in the WC but that's a different story.
Couldn't agree more. The 2 best games in the last WC were Ire v Zim and Afg v Sco.

Big game today!

Decider in a 5 match series which has been amazing!

Taylor not fit to play and neither is Jason Roy out with a back spasm

Should be a cracker!

I thought Santner was the most overrated cricketer in international cricket before this series.

Good series. NZ did Ok imo ... winning two out of three close games but struggling when losing the toss and chasing. Eng just have more firepower, even when picking more bowlers than they need.

Nepal 46-2. If they get to 154, Afghanistan make it through!

Afghanistan through! Although their matches with Zimbabwe & Scotland carry through to the Super Sixes (didn't know this but it's sensible) so realistically they need to run the table on West Indies, UAE & EIRE.

West Indies only team through with a 2-0 record (Scotland & Zimbabwe are 1-0-1 after tying). Should be an exciting tournament (although I think all six teams should qualify).

I think Afghanistan are still shot running the table but who knows.

10 team format is ridiculous. Go 16 team, 4 groups of 4 and top three advance and play a secons group stage vs three ther teams (bringing forward wins and results).

A and B create group E and C and D create group F.

Winners of groups E and F make semi finals, 2nd and 3rd crossover in quarter finals.

Makes each game relevant and almost guarantees the big teams at least 6 games.

Best counter attacker in the game. Everyone else struggling to get the ball off the square, last session SA crawled along at 1.5 rpo, goes in and casually makes a century at a 90 SR.

Did that in the first test vs india too, SA was in the dumps at 10/3 and went in and attacked the best bowler who'd taken all 3 wickets.

He's a delight to watch in full flow.

Pity about the Rabada ruling. SA vs Aus was shaping up nicely, now looks like Aus have a clear edge unless they roll out a green top at newlands to bring Philander into play.

Afghanistan keep themselves in with a chance of qualifying, with a 3 wicket win over the Windies!

They've got the UAE next, who have just been knocked out after defeat to Scotland.

Assuming Zimbabwe beat UAE they'll play in the World Cup alongside the winner of Wednesday's Scotland v. West Indies match.

So long as UAE dont qualify I'm fine with any of the other 3.

Cricket has 0 traction in the middle east, the only reason they're competitive is because of expat Indians and pakistani who'll always follow the game.

Ideally I'd have preferred at least one of Afg, Nepal or PNG to qualify but since it didn't happen Scotland it is.
