Haven't listened to Boycott but I assume he was repeatedly pointing out flaws in Cook's technique and when he got out for 296 said "see, that's what I was saying ...."

India seriously need to think about implementing a succession plan for their batting order. Laxman has scored fewer runs this series than any of the rest of their aging vanguard, not to mention he's looked like a sulky schoolboy all series while fielding; perhaps the selectors should call time on his career and give someone like Virat Kohli a chance at the Oval.

Unlucky run out there for Tendulkar. A shame for him, he was doing quite well.

I have an idea to make the final test more interesting, as it's worked in club and school cricket over the years. Why don't England give India a kinda marginal player like Bresnan. Tremlet or Finn can come in and Bresnan can open the batting and bowling for India.
It's a win-win!

If England could swap any players with the Indians for the last test would they do it?

The only one I would consider would be Tendulkar for Bell, but meh.

I'd always take Sehwag, but he's prob not in the form now that relates to that average and you'd want a captain with Prior ahead of Dhoni. Still, the guy's a genius.

if you read what he said you'll see he said in the last test at the oval. sehwag averages less than 40 outside asia and is in no form/no practice. you'd b better of bringin gambhir than sehwag.

Of course. Batting is so high variance that getting out twice in two balls means very little (especially if you are Sehwag). He could be in the form of his life right now and we wouldn't know it.

I would take Sehwag over Strauss in any form of the game on any pitch.

Yeah, Sehwag has a better overall Test record as an opener, but anyone in their right mind would still take Strauss in the England team for next week's Test, not least for what he brings as England captain. A few extra runs from Sehwag wouldn't offset that, not to mention Sehwag's appalling attitude in the field.

Opening with Strauss and Cook, and assuming Trott coming back in at 3, the combo England team would slot Sachin in at 4, move KP to 5, move Bell to 6, then Prior and the England bowlers as usual from 7 and downwards. If no Trott then Dravid gets in at 3.

I don't rate Sehwag as highly as some. He's a bit of a flat track bully, similar to Jayasuriya in his hayday. I'd take Dravid/Laxman > Sehwag in a heartbeat.

Sehwag and Strauss have played the EXACT number of matches.

Dravid has played 156, Trott has played 23. Dravid is in good form and averages 55+ outside India.
