Sounded like Collingwood held up the innings, Anderson looking pretty good with the bat as well. That has got to have pissed off the Aussies.

Good job by the England tail and Collingwood.

Aussies really missed Lee when they couldn't get rid of the tail, they needed some fast swinging yorkers or bouncers big time.

This completely confused me too, surely Hilfenhaus or Siddle would have been better bowling against our ten and jack. And why was Johnson doing a really good Harmison impression. Speaking off, he might be back for the next test. If not, what would you change about the England team for Thursday?

I agree Monty would have been in huge trouble against them, especially Hilfenhaus. Can't believe how badly Johnson bowled (or England batted). Still can't believe we didn't lose.

I'd just go with Harmison for Monty but Onions is favorite I think. I hope they don't tinker too much.

They were going with spinners mostly because of time constraints I think.

You need 10 minutes for innings change, so they had to keep it in mind. No point in bowling England out and then having no time to bat. That said they could've had a fast bowler bowl off a short run-up and pepper Monty with the short ball with people all around him for an odd over..

the only reason why England drew was that they were able to dubiously delay the game towards the end .. like only 69 balls in the last 40 minutes was a joke and should be somehow addressed in future.

I also LOL when they got their physio on the field :0

Didn't notice any blatant timewasting except the 12th man coming on (twice). 69 balls in 40 minutes is fairly quick isn't it? Then again there were 2 spinners on for a lot of that.

Most teams would have made certain there were no more than 15 overs in that last hour. England seemed oblivious till right at the death, the physio running on and being ignored by both batsmen was fairly amusing.

That was incredibly tense. Though I would like the last hour of my life back that I wasted trying to explain to my septic mate why a 5 day match ending in a draw would be the least bit interesting.

imo Ponting totally screwed up at the finish there. I dont really see Monty (and to a lesser extent Anderson) surviving vs the quicks. But if their only goal was to ensure they bowled more than the minimum overs left then grats on using your spinners. At least if youre going to do that then get everyone around the bat?!

and it tilts me so much hearing the commentary going overboard about the declaration being genius. Declaring there is obviously standard.

Draw was always in the bag yesterday, don't know what anyone was worried about.

On a serious note - we got out of it, just, but if we don't sort the bowling out we're going to get trampled all summer.

It was the batting that was the problem imo.

Pitch was a joke and the game should have been written off as a draw by tea-time on the 4th day. Only woeful batting by England made a game of it and once they started to make an effort to stick around the aussie bowling became more or less as ineffective as Englands.

The Aussies played really well, the English played really badly. Pontings captaincy was a bit mystifying, but apart from that the Aussies were very impressive, particularly their bowling.

Sending the physio on was shameful. I'd rather we'd lost.

England won toss, batting, doing OK early.

Looking pretty good so far, Strauss looking solid and Cook looking ok too.

Thus I predict Cook getting out in the 60s and Strauss getting out in the 30s.

126-0 at lunch, wow.. Great toss to win but woeful bowling again by Johnson. I still believe his a class bowler but something is very badly wrong with him.

reminds me of a bad version of shoaib, if he can get it on line he'll be dangerous, but he never does.

that, and he's slower. and probably takes less drugs.

Great session for England, helped greatly by Johnson picking up where he left off in Cardiff and bowling horribly.
