That turned into the most entertaining game so far!

Even without Suarez, Uruguay has some newer elements going for them compared to the same old from recent years.

Vecino in central midfield is a big plus compared to rolling out Alvaro Gonzales to play with Arevalo Rios.

That was the first red of his career and at least partly due to special Uruguay-obligation of getting Guardado back for his terrible tackle just before.

Carlos Sanchez one of the best players in South American club football the last few years is also now fully established on the team which is a plus.

Even Diego Rolan filling in for Suarez was supposed to add quality depth but he obviously had a very bad game culminating in the big chance missed with his weaker left-foot.

The problem remains the attacking midfield creativity where Forlan, who would wander there with Suarez playing full-blown number 9 and off-ball a lot, and his creative bursts and all-round expert know-how has never been replaced.

Gaston Ramirez and especially Lodeiro have never fully lived up to their potential there and supposed new hotshot from last year De Arrascaeta is now nowhere to be found.

But they have the best centreback pairing in the tournament, with Godin being immense in this game, and if Suarez is fit up front, they should be another very tough opponent for Argentina or Chile in the knockout rounds.

On left-back Alvaro Pereira was a complete failure though and if he has any kind of form Jorge Fucile should definitely replace him for the next game.

Also have to ask cruizn or any other people in the know about Mexico about what's been going on with Jose Juan Vazquez?

I realise that midfield spot should absolutely be Guardado's with the career high level he has been playing there in Europe, but still wonder about Vazquez who I liked quite a bit there.

Gallito Vazquez will be back with Mexico fairly soonish imo. He was just bought by Chivas in Mexico (one of the two biggest clubs in Mexico) and im expecting them to be good, so as long as he does well there, im sure his name will be on future callups. But yeah, Gallito crushed it at the World Cup and im sure most Mexicans would love to see him back on the national team.

man I can't believe the amount of talent we got right now offensively.

Chicharito, Jimenez, Chucky Lozano, Jurgen Damm, Tecatito Corona, Brizuela are all guys I'd love to see get playing time with the national team. And this isn't even taking into account an out of form Carlitos Vela and that loser MLS dip**** GDS.

Confirmed, Copa America will be every four years in the USA. I mean its still not confirmed, There are some small details to finish but its pretty much a lock. It should be like this one all of conmebol's teams plus the best of concacaf.

Impressed with Mexico. They have a bunch of young very good players who aren't afraid of anyone and play with tons of confidence. Given that many of these games will essentially be home games they can absolutely win the entire tournament.

Went to the game, it was fun. Hope we can maintain momentum. I like osorio's tactical philosophy and it seems Mexico players have fully bought in and are executing well offensively, defensively we are AIDS. talavera should not be on national team, dude looks half ******ed out there most of the time on set pieces and corners ... lol cruizn

edit: we are loaded with young talent and should rape USAtards for the next decade in concacaf, no problem

Also, I don't get many chances to watch Uruguay, but every game I catch seems to end with them unraveling and having players sent off. Seems like a pretty huge leak to their game.

Yep. Because they're actually quite good and once Suarez is back they're going to be a ton of fun. But as soon as something goes against them they insta tilt

I admit Talavera looked very bad last night, but chalk it up to nerves. He absolutely IS our best keeper. it would be ridiculous if he starts Ochoa next game vs Jamaica and that's how Ochoa wins the job. Osorio made his decision to it and now he better stick to it.

So is Panama - Bolivia going to be at all entertaining or should I just completely skip it and do chores around the house until Argentina - Chile?

yeah no doubt. Lozano just won the league with his club in Mexico and he's finally getting the respect he deserves. he's legit been crushing for over a year now. rumor is Man Utd is after him right now. i hope he does leave already because kid is ready. he'll also be at the Olympics so we will get plenty of Chucky this summer.

Might be one of the more entertaining matches just because both are so terrible. Hell, there might even be some scoring.
