Just so it's clear, Headgear does not lessen concussive damage from punches in any meaningful way, it just protects against cuts.
It's one of the reasons it was so dumb for the Olympics to get rid of it in 2016. Hey guys, let's hold a 1 week boxing tournament where a decent sized cut can end your run and then take away headgear...
It actually makes you easier to hit because your movement is reduced and you are a wider target. Not really relevant though as he hit Paulie flush on the face and didn't wobble him.

I'd be curious as to how Cortez scored it but they cut the clip before we can see more. Paulie's legs are clearly buckling and Conor is pushing him down with his left hand prior to throwing the lead right (Conor was standing orthodox at that point) uppercut. The uppercut hits Paulie but by then he's already falling.
Cortez says "whoa" and the clip stops but I wonder if he gave Paulie a count and/or some time like he would for a KD or just dusted his gloves and got them back at it.
