I think GGG beats Floyd based on the formers ability to cut off the ring and his power. Floyd is so elusive it would be a great fight tho.

Floyd v. Ward ends 120-119 after 11 rds. of zero offense and 1 round in which Floyd threw two jabs to the body and Ward threw only 1.

Conor can't beat Floyd because he's white.

Conor can't beat Floyd because weight classes and reach are irrelevant.

Conor can't beat Floyd because he hasn't beaten guys who have held titles at 137 lbs.

What do you mean trouble against GGG? GGG destroys Floyd obviously. Weight classes matter eventually. Ward and Floyd wouldn't be sanctioned as Floyd would be at risk of death in the ring.

How is Floyd Connor sanctioned then? Must have had Connor sign a waiver

Floyd has gotten hit by every opponent he's ever faced. He's not easy to hit, and the hits he takes are often body shots, but in the case where the guy is significantly bigger, you're going to start seeing the effects of those shots. His mobility, cardio, and defense will suffer.

As for a reach disadvantage: it is also physically draining to always have to slip a punch to land a jab or straight right hand - the tools of the "boxer" (point scorer), in contrast to hitting a guy at a range you can't be hit at.

The body shots and extra effort required to get off the typically free and easy points a smaller brawler will give you, add up drain the smaller guy.

Andre and GGG are both too big for him; they make Floyd look very human. I suppose the question is - is Conor big enough too?

I'm thinking he might be...

Right, Floyd has gotten hit hard by pro boxers in many many fights. He's been knocked down once and won all his fights. If he has been hit hard many times by pro boxers and won how in the world can Connor expect to win with one lucky punch? Floyd has a good chin

What do you guys think each fighters optimal weight is?

Optimal weight - the weight that the fighter is as big as he can be without being too diminished from the weight cut

I'm thinking for Floyd, maybe 142 lbs, and Conor 153.

Duran: age 32 height 5' 7.5" weight 154 reach 67"

lol
Duran's previous fight was for the middleweight title against Hagler. He later won the middleweight title and fought several times for the super middleweight title. So it's not like Duran was that far out of his weight class.

Yes, Duran was older than Hearns. But Duran later won the middleweight title at age 38, so it's not like he was at the end of his career either.

I just want all you Floyd slappies to know that when Conor wins, it wasn't a fluke, it wasn't unforeseeable.

You guys just don't know anything about fighting.

Duran was incredibly undersized for his MW/SMW run. The fact that he won those belts is a testament to his greatness, not that he belonged there

The fight will be so one-sided, a lot of them will say Conor took a dive. There's no way Conor can look so bad, considering he merked Eddie Alvarez, a hall of famer, a fighter on Schaub's Mount Rushmore. That can't be right, Floyd is too small, look at his legs.

Im a mcgregor fanboy and if/when he loses ill be unfazed. Big dog loses a fight to a guy now 50-0. Im not even arguing hes gonna win. I just want him to win. The handful of people ITT backing conor having to eat crow is nothing compared to the alternative if the miracle happens

Conor will probably cut more weight. So will be heavier in that ring. How that's comparable to Andre Ward I have no idea though. Man fought his last two at light heavyweight.

Even 155lbs is a tough cut for Conor, he's 171lbs on fight night, 160lbs is probably optimal for Conor. GGG and Conor have a similar size, GGG has power with more shots would be the difference though. MMA fighters are bigger than boxers for their weight class due to the grappling & weight advantage being huge.

p.s there are guys who fight at 155lbs in mma who probably are as heavy as Andre Ward on fight night, just saying.

Yeah, there's a really ****ty quality to people not fully acknowledging the freak show nature of this.

In a statement that I'm sure won't come back to haunt me later, believing in Conor is basically denying climate change. When he loses, every Conor flappy gets to say "meh, he was never supposed to win anyway" instead of taking what should be a heavy beating for even entertaining the idea.

Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America. If that ridiculous **** can happen a man throwing punches can get lucky, even against one of the greats and shock the world. That's where I currently stand. If it happens I won't be shocked.

Plus isn't life a lot more fun when you believe that the impossible is possible?
