It certainly was the 4th best place to play, after Madison, SB, and Lambeau, but when the stadium is halfway between the campii and near so many alumni it's fine.

It aired for most of the 1970s, and those who watched it can still hear announcer Lindsey Nelson saying, "After an exchange of punts, we move to action later in the third quarter.''
In 1977, Ken McAfee won the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and was third in voting for the Heisman Trophy. That year, he caught 54 passes for 797 yards and six touchdowns. In his time Notre Dame had a 38-9 record and was the National Champion in 1977, with Joe Montana quarterbacking the Irish team.
What have you been doing since then Joe?
