Hearing more here in Gainesville. No idea how accurate this info is, but it sounds plausible.

Word now is that the players were using a financial aid or school issued card and then reporting it stolen so that it would get replaced. Essentially, they could double the money.

Supposedly one player did it and told others and then they started doing it as well. A single incident didn't throw up any red flags, but when the number of people claiming lost or stolen cards starting growing the admin started looking into it. Apparently one player admitted to it and gave the name of the guy that came up with the scam.

Supposedly one player (not a starter) has already been dismissed from the team. I am guessing that would be the ring leader. The other players are going to have to make restitution to remain eligible. Punishment will be handled in house. No charges filed with authorities.

It's also being said that one player was forced to leave his shared apartment by another players parents who have the lease to the apartment.

Looks like this whole thing has huge potential to be divisive in the locker room and be a huge distraction.

BTW, the starters involved are supposedly Callaway and OL Taylor. Once again, this is just what I heard.

Players having school credit cards with high limits seems unlikely

Someone Florida guy on r/cfb says they were using book money to buy apple watches and then yeh, reporting the card stolen. Yeh, probably not school issued cards but financial aid funds or something.

Meh, as North Carolina demonstrated with the fake classes; this is OK as long as other students are doing it too.

I think the NC lesson is just to act sorry and play along.

Apparently everything's fine. Seems like the school already handled this in-house and it just got leaked by someone.

We'll see, I'm not convinced everything's fine considering this seems like fraud

This just shows the power of academic schools. Student athletes who get a real education will know how to commit intellectual crimes instead of violent ones.

Yeah everything was not fine

App. St. vs. Georgia (-14) is juicy.
Also Akron +(33.5) at lol Penn St. and Troy vs. Boise St. (-11.5) is the freeist of money.

I take offense at being grouped with ILP

Why must

1) bowls change names and tie-ins
2) bowls have secondary tie-ins
3) teams play neutral site games
4) sports sites use different team naming conventions

Last chance U star John Franklin III is transferring out of Auburn. He already graduated so I guess he's got that going for him. He probably wasn't gonna play much this season anyway so we probably won't miss him. We have some good receivers. This will be his 4th college. What a roller coaster of a career. Hard to make an impact on a team when you keep going elsewhere.

I'm guessing FAU is where he'll end up.

FAU is definitely going to be one of those teams to watch just for the pure entertainment value...if you can actually find one of their games on tv.

I'm not going to read it but I was surprised Bing found those words had ever been used together.
