Pederson makes the final call, but Lurie has made it clear he wants the math to drive the decision unless it's close, taking the "instinct" part largely out of it.

The combination of a smart and open minded owner to complement the rookie head coach seems to do the trick.

Chinhole Chilly also kicked the ball out the end zone from the 50 with under 4 minutes left up 4 to give Seattle the ball on the 25 instead of trying an onsides where even if they fail they give it to Seattle at the 35-40.

Textbook example of playing not to lose instard of playing to win. This is basically the same situation as that famous Colts Pats game. Remember that the Pats were blasted by pundits for going for it on 4th. People aren't blasting the Texans for doing the "safe" play.
