SE!
What did you expect? This is the same SE that says Chip is the best coach in the NFL except maybe Jim Harbaugh. Yes, better than a coach who, in the last 10 years to the Super Bowl 3 times and to the conference championship another 3 times.

The same SE that declares Lebron a fraud if he loses a game and declares him the GOAT if he wins a game.

If you look up "overreaction" in the dictionary, pretty sure that SE is the illustration.

I mean Vick was not a threat to run on every play where Shady broke off a big gain. The regular running plays were also incredibly effective.

Foles has at least better than Peyton/Brady levels of mobility, and I believe that Kelly is capable of running offensive schemes based around an effective ground game. Quick play action passes are run more often in place of the read option.

they're already prioritizing the 53-man roster and half the teams in the league still have ****ty o-lines.

Vick, DJax and Shady can't take that many hits for 16 games. McCoy is great at avoiding contact but if I get to fire 20-25% more bullets at him, I like my odds. The conditioning factor is in the offense's favor, but at the same time, there's a known correlation between fatigue and injury. The RBs and WRs have to be in crazy shape, too.

We haven't seen anyone adjust yet, either. (the corpse of mike shanahan's response doesn't count) Teams aren't going to let him pick them to pieces like that all season, and once defenses get in shape they'll respond better.

otoh, if he runs it for the right 50% of the game, and we assume that they can run plays in 15s after averaging 20s last night... after play 6 or so, d-linemen don't have a lot of pass-rush in em. It was impressive, for sure.

also, that's a standard small college formation.

For some weird reason, running your offensive plays faster than normal doesn't get you free possessions, and your opponent tends to end up running more plays than normal as well!

Offer any one of them a better job, with more competent (assumption here) coworkers, more money, more exposure and the opportunity to prove your work against a higher bar and see what happens.

At least not from what I've seen.

I'm glad to hear BobJoeJim say that that isnt a legitimately popular sentiment.

Who wouldn't want to see if their system works at the highest level?
In this series of posts people forget that Kelly left just before the NCAA was set to come down on Oregon.

So 5 guys can all rack up over 300 carries last year and face no major injury issues, but if McCoy does it, he's gonna get hurt?

I just don't buy that they "can't take the extra hits".

In this post nath forgets that Oregon got minimal sanctions, and everyone who counts (Kelly included) knew that was almost certainly what would happen prior to Kelly's departure. All the discussion of the NCAA "coming down" on Oregon was just smoke without fire from journalists looking for a headline.

Exactly?

Citing Philadelphia's pace in a vacuum isn't a reason for thinking they'll be a really good team this year. They looked slightly better than WAS with a gimpy RGIII mostly because they have a Shady McCoy and WAS doesn't.

After one week, versus the Redskins, this is still exactly where we are.

I remember that what actually happened wasn't that big, but I doubt Kelly could have known that and don't buy that it didn't play any factor at all, especially with the timing.

I do however think that taking the Eagles job over the Browns is basically a no-brainer.

mccoy is the guy who probably won't get hurt (knock on wood), but you're still increasing the odds.

djax and vick have a proven tendency to get hurt. no one in this forum would take over 13.5 games started for vick without getting what odds... 10-1?

it's going to work differently vs nfl players for 16 games instead of 18-22 year-olds for 13 or 14.

Chicago refusing to get an offensive line is far worse than Chip running a bunch of plays from an injury risk standpoint. But of course all we hear about re: Chicago is Cutler being a pussy. Just silly how stupid this forum is. Beg for an up tempo offense, see it work, complain about boogeyman. Well done.

Philly was milking the clock for most of the second half while Washington was in non-stop hurry up trying to make it a game.

yeah, that number was a little hyperbolic. there's probably a 20% chance he makes it that far though.

I don't think they burned out, I think they took their foot off the gas.

Drive #1: No-huddle, TD on 2nd play
Drive #2: No-huddle for 7 plays, punt on 4th and 40 (I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this was a wise decision)
Drive #3: No-huddle, drive ends in a fumble on the 4th play
Drive #4: Huddles on offense, one first down gained, punt on 4th and 15 after Vick showed Sanchize-esque accuracy
Drive #5: Huddles on offense, one first down gained, Chip incorrectly punts on 4th and 4

I'm not seeing any time before drive #5 when they took their foot off the gas, and I never got that vibe during the game either. People keep saying it, but it's not true. They had five drives, two of which ended in TDs/fumbles. The other three were punts, but the first two were correct (and caused by dumb penalties from their players), and the third punt was incorrect but done inside of 4:00 left when up 13. They also ran the no-huddle exclusively on each of the first three drives, and they only stopped doing it once the clock became a more important factor.

The truth is that the Eagles have a crappy defense, and Washington attacked it better (with RG3 and Co. playing better) in the second half. Chip only took his foot off the gas on drive #5, it just seems like more because they didn't score on their final four drives. That's not really Chip's fault, though, as much as it was just his mediocre players sucking on both offense and defense. Remember, this Eagles team isn't good, they just appear more talented now that they have the GOAT.
