Its a team game. The other 4 players played defense and he played offense. No biggie. Seriously though, I don't think he was in the frame once whenever the other team had the ball past halfcourt. He really never played defense. But I guess when you are taking that many shots, you gotta find rest where you can.

After winning the state title last year, the Chino Hills coach quit. His reason was he got tired of the 35 mile commute and wanted to find something closer to home.

So the current coach at Chino Hills is in his first year there.

this. and you'd have to be a douche to put up 92 in a high school game. must've been a trash game too for the schools to put up that many points. ball will be a nice rudy gay/ melo titleless uberchucker tho. cool.

Just watching clips and highlights he had so many uncontested layups. I mean the other team was playing zero defense. He wasn't even doing anything crazy. Just straight line dribble drives.

Apparently his team was fouling late to extend the game to give him more chance to get 100 or whatever. Pretty lame.

How do you even get up 61 shots in a 32 minute game?

it's all fun and games until someone undercuts him on a layup, which is the obvious solution

scoring 90 is fine, scoring 90 because your team is fouling up 20 to get the ball back isn't

If you watch the video the other team didn't seem to mind how the game was going too much. they just had slightly less made uncontested layups than the chino hills team.

Seemed like everyone was having fun.

There is no shot Melo Ball plays in the NBA. I can't believe I am saying this but his 93 pt highlight clip was not impressive.

I'd be more than happy to bet on this? The kid has 4 years to improve and is allegedly a better prospect than his brother was at the same age and his brother is looking like he will go top 3 and possibly #1 in a completely stacked draft.

after watching the highlight: hes going to be really good. nice touch, dexterous w both hands, exerted absolute minimal effort possible to score 92, thats ridiculous. also looks to be a good passer, even gave up easy points to throw some oops to teammates. game was trash and lol all that cherrypicking but im interested in watching his development in the next few years.

Vivek would be proud that his 4 v 5 with 1 guy cherry picking strat is being implemented somewhere.

i'd love to see a haralabob tweetstorm about the opposing coaches. ive seen the other team having all 5 guys crash the glass for the o rebound when all chino wants to do is cherry pick off a miss or a make. they legit play 0 defense, it's the most insane basketball i've ever seen.

I assume 35 mile commute in LA takes probably 1-2 hours each way depending on the time.

Seriously though, his dad seems to have more influence on the game plan and stat padding of his sons, then the actual coach(es).

Also, unrelated (or not?, IIRC: Gelo was asked what his goal was for his senior year, and his answer was not to win another championship; his answer was to average a triple double (like Lonzo did his senior year). That should give some perspective.

I'd also be in on this bet. Easy money, imo.

Didn't know his dad was the coach, but doesn't matter really. The strat is lame but he is also clearly being instructed to play this way so the "who does this kid think he is" outrage is also lame

Also not like just anyone can do this and drop that many points. Kid is obv good

edit: i think the strat is esp lame from a coaching perspective b/c it does little for player development. makes it even stranger that it is his dad, who i would expect to think more long term. do they always play this way?
