Why start a thread about a high school basketball team? 3 reasons:

#1. 3 brothers on the same team last season; Lonzo Ball, Liangelo Ball & L'Amelo Ball
#2. Their style of play; high tempo, pure offense, no defense
#3. They win; last season they went 32-0 and won state. This year, even with 5* recruit, and eldest brother, Lonzo gone to UCLA, they are still unbeaten. As of now, they are on a 50 game win streak.

Let us talk BALL

Lonzo Ball (Jersey #2):

- eldest of 3 brothers and freshman @ UCLA
- 6'6" PG
- averaged a triple double in high school and won state
- projected to go top 5 in 2017 NBA Draft
- they call him the next Jason Kidd, but dude is terrible on defense and doesn't know how to defend the PnR
- with that said, he has a better shot than JK and has amazing offensive awareness
- Potential: Jason Kidd; replace the defense with some range

Liangelo "Gelo" Ball (Jersey #3)

- middle child, senior and has committed to UCLA next season
- 6'5", 240 pound SG/TE
- he gets buckets, plain and simple (followed a 53 pt performance with a 72 pt performance)
- his numbers may be a function of the offense this team plays; Gelo, for the most part gets buckets in 2 ways -- one is the 3 pointer and the other is cherry-picking, boxing out, catching and finishing, all off the inbound
- Potential: Antonio Gates, but he doesn't know it yet (and you heard it here first!)

L'Amelo Ball (Jersey #1)

- freshman/sophomore and already committed to UCLA
- youngest of the 3; skipped the 8th grade to be able to play with his eldest brother (Lonzo) at Chino Hills, as per his fathers request (Lavar Ball)
- initially listed at 5'10" (as a freshman), but is supposedly 6'1" now and still growing
- scrawny, cocky kid with good handles, and no conscious when it comes to taking a shot (regularly shooting from NBA range 3pt line and further)
- seems to have the highest ceiling of the 3 Balls
- also has no defense, but he's still young. Will be interesting to see how he plays next year without Gelo
- Potential: Anywhere between Steph Curry, Shaun Livingston and Sebastian Telfair. He's still too young and has a long way to go, but does have the highest ceiling.

Other notables:

Elizjah "Eli" Scott (Jersey #0)
- Senior SF/PF committed to Loyola Marymount next year
- 6'4" 200; athletic freak
- the glue guy for this team who can do it all; without him, they cannot go unbeaten
Potential: Tony Allen

Onyeka Okongwu (Jersey #21)

- sophomore center is contemplating between UCLA and USC atm
- 6'9" (and growing) Center
- the only actual person who plays defense on this team
- great defensive awareness with a soft mid-range shot to boot
- very high ceiling
- potential: too early to say; he's still young and is not being utilized fully atm. Next season will be his time to shine.
LA Times Article about Okongwu

Zion Williamson

- sure, he's not on the team, but if we're talking high school ball, I feel like this Lebronesque BEAST needs to be mentioned.
- if you don't know him, look him up; dude is an exact replica of Lebron (minus the passing...for now)

The Ball Family:

Dad, Lavar Ball is a 6'8" drill sergeant type of dude and his wife, Tina Ball seems straight up boss. Minus the whole "branding" thing, they seem legit:

Chino Hills HS BBall Games; enjoy:

Despite being a top 5 or 10 pick...does Lonzo Ball leave UCLA for the draft or does he wait around to play with his brother (Gelo) next season? (he desperately needs to improve his defensive awareness, footwork and PnR D, before moving to the big leagues, IMO). Also, Gelo could def use his help. Is Lamelo worth the hype?

Let us BALL.

The mom has serious potential to have more swag than Sonya Curry. It looks like she lifts too

The dad almost seems like he is playing a character and is slightly embarrassed by it. Surprised his name isn't Lavicarious.

Last year:
UCLA: 15–17

This year, with Lonzo and Leaf as the only real additions:
UCLA 18-1

Balls just win

Most interesting subplot is if any of them can overtake the current GOAT Chino Hills alum.

Pretty sure this thread would have gotten even more hate last year. Lol

It's a pretty black n white thesis; Chino Hills hs ball games are exciting to watch. And the Ball brothers are an interesting story. It can lead to something very interesting in the future. That's it.

They're like the basketball version of the Ismail's.

Not even sure what that means.... But if that means the most explosive offensive team ever (including NBA, college or HS), then I agree.

The reason it's such a story is that these bros are literally breaking the game. Ballbros have such high IQs that they almost appear to be stupid out there.

No hate here. I just think what made Chino Hills interesting was Lonzo so it would've been better to start it when he was there too. They are kind of interesting this year and will be pretty whatever next year when it just the LaMelo. It's not a big deal just thought Lonzo's senior year would've been more timely.

That's kind of what it means (if you're even referencing my post).... the Ismail's were 3 brothers that dominated high school/college sports (football & track mostly), they had funny nicknames (Rocket, Missile, Bomb) and their family gained some fame too (Mom was nicknamed "The Launching Pad"). Back in 1990 they were being interviewed all the time when Rocket was going for the Heisman.

I'd think my teammate was a douche if he shot enough to score 92 in a game and the coach is maybe a bigger ******* for letting him run up the score like that
