If you could change the outcome of 1 sporting event, what would it be and why?

Looking more for genuine fandom changes, not really changes that affect your wallet. So a Cubs fan choosing to reverse the Steve Bartman game is more what I'm looking for rather than a Cubs fan who bet $5K on a game and lost, but if the gambling aspect makes for a good enough story then by all means post it.

I really am not sure what I would pick. I need to think about it for a while. That's how ****ty the teams I root for are - there isn't really 1 single game that immediately pops out.

It may not even be a game your favorite team played in. It may be a game your biggest rival played. Or someone from an individual sport.

I'm pretty sure NITBO will choose the 2009 Open Championship - a worthy choice, though.

Yankees come back and win game 7 after Damons big hr for Boston

Prevents the comeback and Boston probably gets cursed for another 100 years

Saints-Colts Super Bowl XLIV

Mainly because I moved down to louisiana two years later and have to look at all the stupid ****ing bumper stickers and framed newspapers on the walls of bars every day.

Not game 7 of 2001? Thought that was the most LDO for all young Yankee fans.

wigan arsenal fa cup semi final 2014, wembley stadium. 1-0 up after 80 mins and blew it

would've put us in the final vs hull, genuine chance to win back to back fa cups

alternatively i'd like senna to not die in san marino 1994. he woulda had the dominant williams #1 car for the next 4 years and probably be 7+ times f1 champion. woulda liked to have seen that.

losing away to our biggest rival's dog **** team on the second last day of the season which kept our championship drought since 1958 alive... it's close but I'll go with that

Tom Brady drafted #183 overall by the Cleveland Browns instead of Spurgeon Wynn, thereby going on to a lackluster 14-19 career record before his addiction to painkillers takes hold, and Peyton wins two more rings.

Game 7 1991 World Series. Great game, great series. But as a 14 year old Braves fan, I was crushed.

A close 2nd is Super Bowl XLVIII. Poor Manning.

Serious answer: Game 6, 1988 NBA finals, wherein Isiah sprained his ankle in the third quarter (ruining him for the Game 7 that never should have happened anyway) and Laimbeer gets called for the most ticky-tack foul in the history of the last minute of any playoff game ever so 93 year old Kareem can get another ring. Should have been the start of a three-peat.

Linfield V Belfast Celtic Windsor Park, Boxing Day 1948.

Match ended 1-1 after the away side were awarded and scored a penalty a few minutes from the end, only to have hundreds of the home sides fans invade the pitch and attack the Celtic players with Jimmy Jones getting kicked to ****. Possibly the worst moment ever in Irish sport.

Result killed the greatest ever club side in Ireland as Celtic pulled out of the league afterwards.

Any of Game 5-6-7 of the '85 ALCS. That Jays team was my favourite, and would've absolutely crushed the Cardinals in the World Series. Had to be that year they decided to switch to best-of-7 in the LCS, of course.

If not that, then Game 6 of Leafs-Kings in 1993. Robbed every hockey fan of one final Leafs-Habs Stanley Cup final.
