Only Trevor Sinclair for QPR vs Barnsley circa 93/94 comes close.

Yeah that does come close, at least in terms of the finish. I'm not sure how many passes there were in the buildup to Bale's but it seemed like Madrid had had the ball for a long time, which makes it better imo.

Best thing is that Zidane has now been overtaken as the best CL winning goal scorer and he won't even be there to spite sell Bale

Kroos unsung excellence yet again

MF Toni Kroos, 9 -- Completed 50 out of 51 passes in the first half. His elegance was on display all night in Kiev and offered control when Real Madrid needed it most. Excellent.

In context of the stage and stakes ya for sure. With that removed it would be quite hard to argue otherwise still.

it was an insanely hard bicycle kick, because the ball was so low, but because it was so hard it was also not very pretty. I'd take Zidane's goal over this one

Agreed. Kroos is incredibly good but he doesn’t get enough credit because his job is not to put the ball in the back of the net. His distribution is next to none.

Somewhere in the corner of the RM's locker room Ronaldo is showering. The team is cheering and hugging each other. Bale and Benzema are the center of attention. They brought in the win tonight. Ronaldo closes his eyes while the water streams down his back. ''Why didn't I score?'' he thinks to himself. A single tear rolls down his cheek. Luckily his teammates won't notice it under the shower. He takes a big gulp and composes himself. His heart is in shambles but he has no time to heal. It's time to hit the press.

there's a moment in the first half when he hits a great cross field ball to the right to move the team forward. then a couple of passes later hits the same ball the opposite way across the field from the right to marcelo on the edge of the penalty area on the left. it made me smile

i thought modric was better though

Pretty much this. It was never going to be free money either way. A few days ago I thought yeh Real are going to do it but in no way shape or form was I confident enough to pile on. I did back real but I’m not filled with regret* that I didn’t hammer them like last season.

Yeah because it was such a one sided final! Two utterly hilarious mistakes and a a strike that we will all remember for years to come was the difference and that’s with Salah off.

SN this is not the time to bring up that.

Germany couldn’t even get 4 teams in the group stages and only got 1 team out the group stage and no teams got out the group stage of the europa league!

Lucky that UEFA have changed it to 4 teams now otherwise you wouldn’t be getting 4 teams in the group stage next year.

German clubs are falling behind!

How many keepers survived such mistakes when they weren't elite already. Kahn had mistakes on the big stakes as well but he was already elite by then.

After Lehmann robbing Arsenal of their chances is Karius the 2nd german keeper doing it or were there more?

Dua Lipa GOAT!

The game went pretty much how I expected, except RM weren't playing at their best up front.

Great intensity and pressing, but that's pretty much it, I knew they were going to gas after 50-60 minutes and their best chance to win the final was to score at least 2 goals in the first half. And even then it would have been hard considering RM are doing so well in 2nd halves when they can use fresh legs from the bench. I've said it from the get-go, there's nothing that impressive about Liverpool, they've scored a bunch of goals, but against Europa League teams and haven't showed other needed qualities to make me believe they can actually be champions. You need much more than scoring mostly counter attacking goals to win the CL, much more than 3 very good players up front, especially against RM.

I had a few posts I wanted to make before the final, but got lazy. Would have been pretty funny in hindsight, but going through like 50 pages in a thread on RAWK is pretty exhausting lol. My first thought was "just watch Karius screw up on 2 goals in the final" after seeing this, do yourself a favor and take a peek lol.

I also wanted to post something like "I don't care much about Bale, but it's time for him to do something important in a final and I would hate Cristiano and him leaving with a CL final loss."

It's not me who's benching Bale in CL finals and leaving him out of important games. He's constantly injured and has average games half the time he's not. He played really well these last few months and I've already said it, if he can keep maintaining this level, he'd be a top5 player itw. But he can't do it, I've already seen this scenario before. Time to cash in while he's worth over 100m.

It was already known in Spain that Cristiano is not happy and might want to leave, it was rumoured since last year and he even said it a few days ago, something like "I will always say RM is the best team itw" and didn't want to answer when asked about his future. I thought it was the standard RM v Cristiano of every year, but it might be more than that. It's not about money, even though he deserves more and Florentino hasn't kept his promise. And on top of that, he wins his 5th Ballon d'Or and Florentino talks about Neymar of all people in one of the most glorious days for a RM player.

It's pretty clear Cristiano doesn't want Neymar at RM and rightfully so, he'd be a cancer for this team, we can do much better with other players and Neymar won't win the CL at PSG, unless they luckbox their way to a final, just like Liverpool. I thought this would be an easier thing to fix, but it doesn't seem so at the moment. Who knows, there's very few things money can't fix anyway, but this thing with Cristiano has been going on for a while now. I already said I don't see him playing for RM for more than 1 maybe 2 years tops, but that's not the way to treat him like Florentino does. He had a lot of chances to leave when we weren't winning anything and had coaches like Pellegrini, Mourinho when he went crazy or Rafa Benitez. Rafa Benitez. I reapeat, Rafa Benitez. He always stuck around and gave his absolute best no matter what.

Nacho GOAT btw. I'm off to RAWK lol
