It's Grey Cup weekend! Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Toronto Argonauts. The game is scheduled to start on Sunday at 6:00pm EST, the TV listings say 6:30, but it probably will not get going until about 7:00?
The Blue Bombers are going for 3 in-a-row in 4 years. It would be the first time Winnipeg has won 3 in-a-row, the first time for any team since the mighty Edmonton 5-time championship dynasty of the late 1970s, and would mark the most successful era of Bombers football since the Bud Grant years (1958-1962).
The Argonauts have won the last 6 times they have appeared in the Grey Cup.
The game is in Regina, Saskatchewan, the city that rhymes with fun. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are the Bombers #1 rivals and it seems to have upset some of their fans that Winnipeg is playing in their stadium for the championship. "Blech!" was the reaction I saw on the news. It's a strange sort of one-sided hate. I mean, there's no team I would rather beat than the green riders, but there's no team I would like to see win more if they aren't playing the Bombers. Well, whatever.
Despite it only being an 8 or 9 team league, the Bombers and Argos haven't met for the Grey Cup since The Mud Bowl of 1950!
The Bomber's coach O'Shea was a star and beloved player in Toronto. The head coach of Toronto, former Boise State superstar Ryan Dinwiddie, made his CFL debut in the 2007 Grey Cup Game playing for Winnipeg and losing to Saskatchewan. He's not as fondly remembered.
In that 2007 Grey Cup, Dinwiddie replaced Kevin Glenn who had been injured very late in the Eastern Final.
This year's Bomber QB Zach Collaros was injured very late the Western Final, but was seen looking pretty mobile at practice. There is still a lot of concern about how injured he is.

Winnipeg -6 seems like not nearly enough points. They might be the best team in the league for the last ten years and Toronto is well nowhere near that. Supposed to be nice weather too. Bunch of friends going but lol at that. In for the halftime show!
