I watched something else last night with the game at like 4-2 NYY or whatever.

Then later I saw an ESPN scroll that said NYY 7 PHI 4.

Then, I was half-heartedly watching the game recap and looked up and saw it was TIED 4-4 at one point, then instantly knew Lidge must have blown it. Then the next highlight was 2 outs in the 9th and I knew it was trainwreck time.

Lidge is the swingiest pitcher in ML history.

If someone wrote a book behind what goes on in Lidge's arm and body year-to-year, I'd seriously buy and read the whole thing.

I remember when the Yanks sent Scott Proctor to a sports psychologist it fixed a lot of his issues (until Joe blew his arm out). I have to assume Lidge (among a lot of other players, A-Rod too prob) sees a sports psychologist.

Seriously how can a guy go from SO dominant to SO terrible back to SO dominant back to SO terrible so many times and so quickly? It just makes no sense. Is he hiding injuries during all his down years? Is he really that enormous of a headcase?

how do pitches go from effective to ineffective to effective to ineffective like that?

i mean it's not like he's valuable one year and somewhat less valuable the next... he's either ELITE or AWFUL. There's NO middle ground. It baffles me.

i mean obv i made fun of him with everyone else, but to be completely honest i really feel bad for the guy. he's never done or said anything to make himself look like a douche so i can't find a reason to hate him. you gotta feel bad for someone who goes from elite to goat all the time.

obv he's taking lots of $$ to the bank, but $$ isn't the end all be all.

I think I said earlier itt that I can't recall a player going from elite to awful to elite to awful as many times as him. It is weird.

On the one hand, I hate the Yankees; on the other hand, as an Astros fan, I enjoy watching Lidge leave the lights on for someone else.

I was fixin' to be pissed if he ran hot again this W.S. and had like 4 4-out saves or some ****.

He ran cold for the Astros (lol Podsednik), then hotter than the sun last year. I'm actually rooting for the Phils but if they lose at least I can take solace in the fact that Lidge isn't 2-0 with the Phils and 0-1 with Houston.
