It was funny that they let him pitch to Hanley with 2 outs and a runner on third. I was all "oh wow this could be a turning point for Bradley, he can get his mojo back finally just in time for teh playoffs!" He gets up early in the count. (Oh man LETS GO MR. LIDGE). Gets 2 strikes on him (K HIS DOMINICAN ASS imo). And...he walks him and promptly blows the save and the game.
Lots of gold in that ninth inning by the way. The broadcast crew called the blown save after the leadoff double, as in "he's going to blow another", as if it was a foregone conclusion and no other outcome was possible. I've never heard something like that before. Then they chastised the ump after the non-strikeout for perpetuating the argument with the batter instead of turning away, and then tossing him despite the fact that he (the ump) was the antagonist.
Then, after the game was over they started moaning "how is this team going to win in the playoffs with this guy as the closer?" Very entertaining. Plus my old man couldn't stop watching because Lidge is "a fine Notre Dame man", something which I assume he'll forget about come playoff time seeing as he is a die-hard Cards homer.
