In his saves he had exactly zero saves where the Astros had a three run lead going into the ninth and the final was a win by 1 after Lidge gave up two runs but still collected the save, even though you seem to think this happened "throughout the year".

Lidge looks really good. I think the main thing is that he is throwing his slider for strikes and getting ahead in the count. Plus, confidence can only help.

as an Astros fan i know about Lidge all to well. he a good guy and i hope he does wll angist other teams , but players the Astros trade away always ends up being Astros killers for the next few years inless We trade them to the AL. lidge did need to get out of Houston to be able to get his head right again. his failuare after the Pujos homer in 04 was still in his head it was all mental.
