So sad. A three pitch strikeout and broken bat groundout had me thinking that Lidge was gonna shut up the haters. Then that home run. He was really booed mercilessly.

I hope he can turn things around. It's gotta be tough when people are expecting you to fail. I don't really like what i've been seeing from the Houston fans the last few years, with the booing of Kent & Vizcaino and with the way they've started treating Lidge when he struggles. They are becoming too much like Yankees fans, and that is definitely not a compliment.

All the relievers were iffy last night though so Lidge shouldn't have to take the heat by himself. Wheeler was close to giving up a gopher ball and the lead on his first pitch, luckily the ball barely twisted foul. And then Qualls in the 10th, sheesh.

Here's to better days for Lidge.

I can see why Astros fans would be like Yankees fans what with all those WS trophies and NL pennants.

Booing Lidge does not mean that Astros fans are Yankees fans. The man is not getting it done, and it's costing us a lot. I like Lidge and I feel bad for him, but he's getting paid a ton of money to get people out in the 9th inning, and he's not doing his job.

You know what Houston, TX demands? Excellence. They're so used to being the best at... at... uhhhhh... oil! Yes, so nothing but being first will do for Houston, TX.

Making this statement is so cooked. Maybe the Astros can teach Lidge to catch and swing a bat so that he can take over for Ausmus next year. They need to give him a chance to redeem himself.

On the sports radio show they were giving him nicknames such as Brad Ho Park, Brad Kyun Kim, Brad Niedenfeuer, Brad Williams, etc. Just on and on. The city has totally turned on Bradley. Someone even called him Brad Carr.

He's had a whole season to work out his inner demons. Too bad, life sucks, get him outta there.

To this day I have never seen a player have his soul completely ripped out the way Lidge did when Pujols hit that bomb.

I like how Clarkmeister took off some time from the forums, like Tiger working on his swing, and has come back with his A+ game. Nice bump.

Yeah - lifelong 'Stros fan here as well and I'm done with him. Try him in the setup role, maybe. He's still got electric stuff...but now he just makes too many bad mistakes.

Last year the Astros only lost the NL Central by 1.5 games...Lidge alone blew six saves. He does his job last season and the Cardinals aren't the defending WS champs because they wouldn't have made the playoffs. And anytime you get last year's pitching staff in the playoffs, especially the way Houston was hitting at the end of last year, you have a chance for great things.

But the bottom line is the Astros simply aren't good enough in other ways to not have a dependable pen. They either have to figure it out one way or another or else it's going to be a crappy season.

I know it's awesome to make fun of all the ignorant homerific Astros fans, but any team would be crazy to not want Lidge on their team.

LOL... Did you know that 25 other pitchers had as many or more blown saves as Lidge last year?

If Papelbon did his job last year(same # of BS as Lidge) maybe the Red Sox would have made the playoffs

I'd love to see his BS% for games 2-runs or less last year.

As always, the stats don't tell the whole story. There were plenty of games where Lidge would come in with a 3 -run lead and give up 2, or would come in tied and give up the go-ahead, or whatever. He's just not anywhere as effective as he was B.P.

So, you're saying that a history of playoff success makes it okay for a fan base to act like ignorant jerks? Err, okay if you say so.

In actuality, it doesn't reflect well on the fans whether their team has won the world series 15 times or 0 times.

Booing Kent and Vizcaino like the Houston fans have done like has been done the last couple of years was completely out of line. Those guys did not leave of their own accord, why go out of your way to boo them when they come back and play for a visiting team?

The fans have also been too vicious with their booing of Lidge. I mean, do you want him to get his confidence back and start pitching like he used to, or would you like him to continue to struggle so you can keep booing him? Not that you have to cheer when he blows a game, but the mean spirited reactions that i've witnessed is not called for. I attended a couple of Card's games a couple of years ago when Izzy was really struggling and blowing saves, and he didn't get that reaction, and he's alot worse than Lidge.

Despite my dislike for the Cardinals and their laboratory created 1st baseman, the Cards have some of the best and most knowledgeable fans in baseball. I really wish that Houston fans would try to be more like the baseball-savvy Cards fans and less like the ignorant Yankee fans. Yankees (and now Astros) fans just like to boo to show their passion, with very little thought to how stupid they're acting sometimes.

I think you meant to say "26 times or 0 times".

And since you are so proud of their NL Pennant in 2005 we can just do 39 times to 1 time if you would like.
