I feel for Chargers/Raiders fans. At least with St. Louis the pain is over and the healing can begin.

They have to sweat at least another year of 'will we have to move?'

Searix, we'd be happy to have you as a Packers fan.

Sorry about your team. As a Bucks fan, I was scared for a few years that they might bolt for Seattle. This stuff is so ****ty.

I was gonna say it's lame not to follow your team, but I'm not a Winnipeg Jets fan so do your thing I guess.

By the way, aside from $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, is there a reason why Goodell and the NFL would actively encourage these teams to move? I've never understood (aside from CA$H MOBNIES) why commissioners tell teams that they have to build a new stadium or GTFO. Silver did this with the Bucks. I mean, I feel like it should be up to the team and the city.

I'm really not sure what I would do if my team moved. I can't really imagine cheering for the Seattle Bucks or Charlotte Brewers or some ****.

Kroenke owns more ****ing land than the land area of Rhode Island. It doesn't need to be said, but this guy should REALLY be building his own ****.

What do you mean "aside from money"???

ldo it's about money. Revenue sharing and whatnot.

That's why I asked. I assumed it was all about money, all the time, but it seemed pretty awful that Goodell would actively work to get a team to leave a city or make a city build a new stadium JUST for money when the league already makes quadrillions.

But he's Goodell, so yeah, it's money.

As a longtime New England Patriots fan, I understand what the threat of losing your team feels like.

In 1992, a scumbag named James Orthwein bought the Patriots and immediately planned to move the team halfway across the country to his hometown after the 1993 season. 1993 was Bill Parcells' and Drew Bledsoe's first season on the Patriots. So, New England fans were very excited about the Patriots future.

Fortunately, Robert Kraft stepped up and saved the franchise. That's a big reason why he's so popular in New England.

Orthwein was going to rename the team the Stallions.

Spoiler:
F*** St. Louis

You really can't understand why people would stop rooting for their team, or even actively cheer against them when they move?

Never was a huge Rams fan, but still, **** Kroenke for not giving a **** about the fans in St. Louis. Bigger loss for me was when the Whalers moved. **** Peter Karmanos Jr. for lying about wanting to keep the team in Hartford. Was rooting super hard against the Hurricanes against the Oilers in 2006. I will never not hate the Hurricanes.

Both these people purchased these teams mostly looking to move them. Both of them lied about wanting to keep the team where it is.

Rams played in Angel Stadium since early 80's. The entire ball field was enclosed. Once the Rams left it was reconfigured for just baseball. 25% of the prime football seats no longer exist.

I'm not sure they want to go through that again.

Such a charmed existence. Every team i cheer for has tried to or threatened to move.

My Timberwolves were sold to ownership that tried to move them to New Orleans and rename the team the New Orleans Angels. Fortunately, the guy buying the team had problems with financing and wasn't as rich as thought so the deal fell through.

Carl Pohlad agreed to sell the Twins to a guy that wanted to move the team to North Carolina. Charlotte did not want to pay for a stadium but he didn't give up and tried to get Greensboro, North Carolina to build. But the city council voted against building one so the Twins stayed in Minnesota. Pohlad decided to contract the team instead but that ended up not happening because the player's union blocked it.

The North Stars moved to Texas and won the Stanley Cup.

Red McCombs wanted to move the Vikings to his home city of San Antonio but couldn't so he sold the team to the Wilfs who are quasi-scumbags that spent years exploring a move to LA as leverage to **** over the taxpayers with a terrible deal on a new stadium.

lol pro sports

Clay Bennett also comes to mind. The crazy thing about Kroenke is that he is from MO. When he bought the team he was all " I'm a son of Missouri, I would never move the Rams"

Well that's that then. American sports can be lol at times. A team just up and leaves a city just like that. Amazing.

This could still be what you mean by money, but keeping on teams' backs to upgrade makes it easier for the teams that want to uograde, to upgrade. Raises the standards of the whole league, in public and scammed government perception, of what kind of stadium is necessary. Average stadium quality would be way lower without this. It becomes a feedback loop.

A big ole feedback loop of monopoly money. Euro sports so much better at their concept of what teams and leagues are.

Yeah. It's a great scam convincing people that the teams ever belonged to any communities in the first place.

American business model: hold customers hostage while being the government-enforced only game in town. Sports are worse than Comcast.

It is really amazing in the eyes of a eurotard.

I am a niners (casual) fan in Sweden. I'm thinking I might start following a college team instead/as well. Michigan with Harbaugh just to have some somewhat arbitrary reason. That **** is not just gonna go up and vanish like a fart in the wind I don't think.

Sorry Searix, as a Brit this whole concept is ****ing bizarre to me (it's happened once in the UK). Best advice is throw a dart at one of the teams that has no chance of moving in the future so you don't have to deal with this kind of bs again.
