No way Holtz is ever hired. I doubt Butch Davis is hired, but he is really good friends with chicken tycoon and major Razorback booster, John Tyson.

Re: Bobby Petrino on paid leave following crash details

Petrino has released a statement. Seems non-defiant:

Quote:
The simplest response I have is: I’m sorry. These two words seem very inadequate. But that is my heart. All I have been able to think about is the number of people I’ve let down by making selfish decisions. I’ve taken a lot of criticism in the past. Some deserved, some not deserved. This time, I have no one to blame but myself.

I chose to engage in an improper relationship. I also made several poor decisions following the end of that relationship and in the aftermath of the accident. I accept full responsibility for what has happened.

I have to say, I'm more interested at this point in what desperate program or team hires Petrino next than I am in who Arkansas hires.

I'm saying I don't think it's unreasonable for UA to anticipate a possible lawsuit from the fiance' alleging that UA was negligent in allowing Petrino to hire his mistress in violation of civil service rules (if applicable) or UA policy while knowing (or should have known) that the mistress was engaged to another employee of the athletic department. Fayetteville is a pretty small place, and it would not be surprising if a sharp lawyer could find potential witnesses who knew about the affair prior to the accident.

IANAL and don't know if such a suit would be successful in establishing liability and damages. However, I do know that there are lots of lawyers looking for work these days.

You are very confused.

The dude wasn't even married to Petrino's mistress. So all of your advanced legal reasoning is moot.

Even if he was married it's very unlikely that the school could somehow be liable for Petrino hiring his mistress. How did that hire harm the fiance? Also, before you were saying they might be liable for alienation of affection. That wasn't the school's doing and that happened before the hiring even took place. How is the hiring of the mistress suddenly the tort?

Assuming you are still talking about alienation of affection, how would the affair itself be ruled in the scope of Petrino's employment? I doubt the school paid Petrino to have sex with it's other employees.

Lack of work or not, lawyers cannot file claims with no legal basis.

Seems like he's trying to say the relationship was already over before the accident, which, that really makes no sense, but if it's somehow true, then given how soon before the accident she moved to her new position... makes me wonder about blackmail. That's pure speculation, and speculation is worse than useless in cases like this, but that still would make more sense to me than "I'll give you 20 grand and give you a new job to keep having sex with me, thanks."

How did she not have any bruises at all????

Total coverup. Recreate a motorcycle accident where the 'driver' gets hurt so severely and the passenger walks away as if nothing, literally, happened. The shock alone would have been intense and require at least a visit to a doctor to ensure that there was no internal damage.

This story was created from the start and got lost in a web of lies.

As an Arkansas State alum, I'm pretty sure the northeast corner of Arky will secede from the state if UofA hires Malzahn away.

I wonder what Malzahn's contact buyout is?

I didn't know we had an Arkansas State guy here. Congratulations on the excellent 2011 season. Legit historically good season for a Sunbelt team!

Sorry about the seeming likelihood of coach poach (again). Setting that aside for a second, what's the outlook for the team? Are you thinking " be the next Boise State" or is it more like "let's try to move to Conference USA"? I had assumed you expected to play 2nd fiddle, but really have no idea what the mindset is. Are the two schools completely separate systems or is there a shared board?

The 20K was from him, or out of the university's money?

If the latter, I guess he had to be fired.

May or may not be late but here my opinion on this. He made a mistake, but it wasnt like he killed somebody. Everyone makes mistakes, but he is a big figure and especially in Arkansas. He will overcome this
