Some coaches have left those schools for the NFL or to dodge NCAA sanctions or both (I'm looking at you Pete) but that's different ya.

wait it said mid-size

my bad.

Still makes no sense, just because of the fact that the size of the city means really exactly nothing.

Indiana University
University of Iowa
Michigan
Michigan St.
Nebraska
Minnesota
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue
Wisconsin

all fit profile from B1G of one big/midsize city and mostly rural outside of that.

SEC:
University of Georgia
University of Alabama
University of Arkansas
University of Mississippi
Auburn University
Mississippi State University
University of South Carolina

all fit that profile

and linking to state populations is nonsensical because he was talking about city sizes in the states + being rural.

It's more a north east state thing. And if you include the 2 city thing you lose Penn, NY, Fl, California, Nevada, Texas, Maryland, Ohio and a lot of the upper east coast states.

I've driven across most of the country. When you're in the southeast (outside Florida), the midwest and the west outside the ocean states it's pretty barren compared to the east coast. I don't think Nebraska's situation is unique that's all.

nebraska kansas colorado dakotas etc are nothing at all like the missouri iowa ohio ill ind mich. if you had actually driven across the country this would be obv.

i dont really get ur point with arbitrary distinctions like one big/mid city. wat is a mid city? 100k? 250k? 500k? as the argument has evolved it will be really easy to massage in watever direction you want to go. i mean, i htink fort wayne is def a middle city at least. proly moar like a big city. but you didnt include it. bc it didnt fit ur preconceived argument.

I haven't been through those states, I've been through the whole south, pacific west and everything east of Chi/Wisconsin

I guess I don't have a good idea of it then. I've driven through Texas and it doesn't seem much different than driving through OK or Wisky etc. Indiana/SC/other states are a tier above, but it's not like it's a huge deal with respect to college recruiting. Almost all the schools in the country are recruiting one big/mid size city and rural areas outside of it.

Ft wayne isn't a middle size city

Metropolitan Class City (300,000 or more)
Omaha – 408,958
Primary Class City (100,000 - 299,999)
Lincoln – 258,379

so the cutoff is around 300k then, right (from radio guy saying only one city in Neb)

so Ft Wayne is less than that right (200k)? I'm not massaging my results from the data at all, and it's really silly to accuse that of me.

I think that's it, may be missing one or two.
I'm an Alabama fan, but I have to say it; what the hell are we doing on that list and that other one? A few years ago we were a joke, after a 25 year run of mediocrity. We bite the bullet and bring in the world's least charming and most ridiculously overfocused man and now we are in a fantastic position so long as he stays.

Once he's gone we're right back to where we were; A POS state with nothing in it and without enough native talent to compete, an in-state high caliber rival who is also in perfect ****-blocking position to our life-giving pipelines to inordinately-far-away Georgia and Florida, a scourge of new teams in the area who'll probably be appealing enough to keep a recruit or two per year in their area, an administration that was mind bogglingly incompetent until Nick's "I take over and do everything that used to be your job description" policy, and a booster base consisting of many many insane good old boys who'd love to "help" the team once Saban stops telling them to **** off.

My guess is we're back to mediocre within 5 years of CNS leaving, probably aided by NCAA penalties for transgressions beginning 5 minutes after his departure.

Look at the rest of those schools--they all have prominent natural advantages over the field, except for Oklahoma I guess but they don't have the recent quarter century of being a tier 3 school either. Nebraska is kinda as well, but they have an exclusive on their state and they're a very good school also without the generation of crap.

Oh, and Dennis Franchione left Alabama to go to Texas A&M.

Vic and I have 75k posts of SE experience, we'll walk you through this. When Arkansas was described as 'we are a rural state with only one city that is mid-size at best.', he was lamenting the small size of the state. The inclusion of one city that is mid sized at best signified that even their one urban center isn't even all that big, further driving home the point that Arkansas has a small population. States with small populations have less football players, and states with less football players have less D1 prospects to choose from. So, a state like Florida with numerous large cities and 19m people has a huge advantage when it comes to procuring elite high school talent. Georgia too, that's the number one choice of elite Atlanta talent. Up north, Michigan and Ohio State have dominated the Big10 for most of it's existence, and they're pretty big states too. Obviously this isn't a perfect correlation, programs such as Alabama and Auburn can win ships while sharing a smallish (but still ~50% more populated than Arkansas) state, but both have more tradition than Arkansas to draw from. And of course some big states just don't give a **** about football, lol New York.

It's mainly because you have 14 NC's with one in almost every decade

I think you'll be fine

No I get that completely. Can you see why I posted what I did if you don't restrict the size of the one city like I misread it as? I'm 100% correct if I didn't misread it.

he said Nebraska only had one mid size city

can you explain how the cutoff isn't a number between Omaha and Lincoln?

Hint: no you can't

I mean it's not really hard to understand where I was coming from, I don't get it at all. I'm 100% correct with the assumptions I had. One of them was wrong, so I obviously failed but if they were all right, I was right.

i dont understand why you quote my post to make an argument against his post. i didnt say sht about nebraska. but sweet job using nebraska statutes to argue against a point i didnt make.

I'm not using nebraska statutes, I'm using their city sizes (to show that to make Nebraska have only one city the cut off has to be between 250k and 400k

I'm still waiting for you to refute how my analysis was wrong based on my terrible assumptions

EDIT: the metropolitan class thing was just from c/ping from wikipedia

you are downplaying overall size of states, and amount of city areas by completely disregarding anything that isnt big or medium sized.

listen, heres the thing. a state with a boatload of 80-250k size cities is gunna have a very nice football talent pool in real life. but not in krayz selective endpoint life bc it they arent even middle sized cities. mite as well be siberia.
