Petrino signed a new seven-year contract in December 2010, after completing his third regular season at Arkansas.

The contract, which was for an average of $3.53 million annually, had a clause in it that would allow Arkansas to dismiss Petrino for "engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the university, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of head football coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the (university's) athletics programs in any way."

I wonder how far a university will go to secure an agreement like that. Like if Petrino had said "no morlaity clause or I'm gone" would they let him walk?

So I still don't quite get why Petrino would possibly be fired over this. I mean, he went 10-3 in 2010 and 11-2 in 2011 which is better than Arkansas has done in years. Why would they want to fire him over an affair with a 25-year old that works for the team? It's not like he did anything illegal or involved the university in any way, it just seems like the damage to the reputation of the university and the football program from this story is basically nil, whereas the value of keeping the most successful coach since the 80s would be huge.
