I played h.s. ball against St. Anthony's - a DC team that was ranked # 1 in the country by Sport Magazine
they were coached by John Thompson
of course, they crushed us
they had 6'8" Donald Washington who got a full scholarship to UNC but broke his foot and had bad grades and had to leave - even though the injury was severe he went on to play some ABA ball -
they also had Johnathan Smith - a 6'1" guard who did very well under Thompson at Georgetown - I was guarding him and I remember he took a jumper and his feet were in my face - I was a little guy 5'9"
they also had 6'9" Merlin Wilson who also did very well at Georgetown under Thompson
Merlin Wilson later played pro ball in Europe
that h.s. team was so good they were scary -
