The Sarich one is worse than meh, because he is legitimately done and now we're stuck with him in the lineup for another 2 years. If the blueline doesn't change again heading into the season and Sarich finds himself in the roster ahead of both Brodie and Derek Smith, that is an inexcusable ****up.

As far as the wingers go, Stempniak's fine and hopefully he stays healthy next year. Comeau is just awful though. I know he generated rave reviews from the advanced stats crowd for firing into the breadbasket over and over again, but he has a hockey IQ lower than his jersey number and a remarkable penchant for taking stupid penalties 200 feet away from his own net. He showed why even the Islanders grew sick of him. His hands can't play in the top 6 and his rocks for brains make him tough to play as a bottom 6 matchup guy. It's a shame too, because he's blessed with incredible speed.

If we're going to lose anyways - because the Blake Comeaus of the world contribute far more to losses than they do wins - I'd rather see the Paul Byrons, Greg Nemiszes and Lance Boumas of the organization wet their feet.

Eric Francis tweeting he suspects the Flames want to bring Brandon Prust back. I don't care what anyone says, that would make me the happiest boy in 2p2Land. I love that guy.

As of June 28, 2012, Schultz had narrowed the number of NHL teams he was willing to sign with down to five: the Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and New York Rangers.[1]

iirc, the last time the Rangers signed a highly coveted collegiate defenceman via UFA, it turned out really well

I'm trying to imagine the sell to parise!

"OKAY PARISE, YOU HAVE A CHOICE.
You can move to a step down from NJ all the way to Detroit, to play for the team your rivals with, thus effectively getting booed to **** for being a traitor, and play for a mostly empty stadium because lol detroit fans.
But it's the Redwings, and we all know everybody loves Redwings.

Or... you could move to SJ, never deal with cold weather, your car probably won't be jacked, and NJ will hate you less, and you'll more the likely troll the **** out of DET in the playoffs year after year.
But it's SJ, so you're gonna be ringless."

Red Wings still getting the haters riled up. Pretty impressive after the failures of the last couple years.

Comeau has a decent shooting percentage in his career, there's nothing in his history to suggest he'll stay at 5% - Byron, Nemisz, and Bouma are all worse players who probably have 0 NHL future. Comeau is the perfect low-risk signing for Calgary.

I'm about to start unfollowing everyone who mentions the name Justin Schultz.

lol this kid Schultz...

Ducks tried to have Scott Niedermayer call him. Schultz wouldn't take the call.

In other non-Schultz news, Leafs are going to buy out Colby Armstrong.

should be over today, apparently. not quite sure what to think about this, mostly bc i don't know anything about him. but i mean the hype is huge. 21yo, and i think i heard some analyst say the other day that he could walk right on to the 2nd pairing of any team in the league. obv that sounds great, but at the same time i'm kinda getting flashbacks to the Fabian Brunnstrom sweepstakes...

UFA Spotlight on DL's boy Bryan Allen, apparently the Ducks, Flyers, & Wild might be most interested? thoughts DL, predictions?

ufa predictions?

suter - nashville
parise - nj
semin - khl
doan - doesn't sign

I see a lot of $$$$ out there, but not so much talent. Is this the year that rfas finally get some offersheets?

now i'm kinda $ad bc i realized that the Canucks prob won't do much in the frenzy.

i mean unless they deal Luongo tonight, or dump Ballard on someone, or decide they don't want Alberts on the roster next year, or deal Raymond's rights somewhere, then they won't have all that much money to work with tomorrow. so about the only thing they might do is sign Schultz, if they can even win that race. and who knows if he's any good really. could turn out to be a loss.

so now a good day tomorrow is Schultz + McClement or something? a bad day is no Schultz. and getting Schultz could be a bad day if he's no good or not ready. sweet.

sadly he doesn't have any major holes he can patch through UFA - i'd be surprised if he signed more than one player.

ok, feel free to play the UFA predictor game...

"Top 20" UFA's:

(sponsored by Tommy Kaberle)

Jokinen - Predators
Gaustad - Canadiens
Parise - Penguins
Doan - Blackhawks
Selanne - Ducks
Jagr - Red Wings
Semin - Maple Leafs
Whitney - Devils
Smyth - Oilers
Parenteau - Blues
Hudler - Wild
A.Kostitsyn - Sharks
Holmstrom - Red Wings
Suter - Wild
Schultz - Canucks
Garrison - Oilers
Carle - Red Wings
Souray - Flyers
Allen - Ducks
Brodeur - Devils

a couple gimmes, i guessed on like 90% of the others.

most points out of 20 wins in a couple days when most of these guys are signed.

(maybe i can even wrangle a custom undertitle for the champ, if they don't already have one...)
