sounds like one of howson's fired scouts chucking bombs on the way out the door. but yeah, i don't know if that makes it credible.

Don't see how that is LolHowson. 4th + 34th + 65th is about the right value to move up 2 spots in the top 5 (probably a slight underpayment), with the rest of the picks being throw in's

But Howson wanted the NHL ready Murray over a project Dman

i think #34 and #65 would be sufficient. i know that low draft picks aren't worth very much, but it sure is putting a lot of eggs in one basket. and also murray isn't thought of all that highly. i think a 4th-7th combined are worth a low 2nd.

someone on twitter made sense of this deal for me, that it might've been contingent upon yakupov being available at #2.

I have to admit I looked at #2 vs. #4 overall picks and there was a pretty big gap over the last 10 years. Only reading a little scouting, I think a big difference this year is that there was a clear 1 and then a huge drop off. Other years there might have been a clear #1 but there were one or two other players thought to be elite at the time as well, like Malkin going behind Ovechkin or Jordan Staal and then Toews going behind Johnson. Maybe it's just hindsight bias and it was true in those cases as well, but there was a lot of disagreement at the top after Yakupov.

that makes more sense given that most ppl considered him far & away the best player in this draft. find it pretty hard to believe that there's that much faith in Murray. if there was, the LOiLers prob would have taken him #1.

this year's draft is still kinda lol, because Erik Johnson is another great example why you wouldn't want to pick Ryan Murray #1-2.

Ottawa assistant GM was on radio, thinks there are 3-5 teams in the run to sign Justin Schultz.

Gotta think Edmonton and Vancouver are front runners. Toronto. Maybe the Rangers.

no, i want him to go somewhere like Florida, Tampa, or Toronto over say Chicago or Edmonton.

don't really care what they get back, as long as Gillis can manage not to get face-raped by Tallon again.

I thought they were in-between 3/12 and 4/17.

5/19.5 is a long one for one good year when his contract was up, and it seems to break the "We do not pay more than market value." mantra. It's going to be harder to make team-slanted offers with a straight face.

That takes him into UFA, I suppose, 29 years old & 7 seasons.

The history of the Winnipeg goaltending is a succession of guys who looked all-world for parts of a season and then vanished. [Let me find a list]

I'm happy to have him long-term. Now don't let us down, or else!
