Matt Carle not going anywhere. Will likely finish deal in days and be announced on July 1. Holmgren wants him, Carle wants to stay. #Flyers
He'd better be right.

True. I'm left to hope Schenn can find himself next year. He can definitely be worth that contract with a little improvement, but the last two years haven't been promising.

Awesome, thanks again.

What would you do with 16 million dollars!

I forgot to slot in Mittens. He goes beside Antropov. It took some time for him to show signs.

And now there's not much room for Fehr. But if he fills in for Wellwood, then Wellwood can cover any injury.

With Carle at $5.2M, Voracek at $3.25, and Shelley and Pronger's contracts gone the Flyers have about $9M to sign a backup goalie and a top-6 forward or two.

The JVR trade was painful from a Flyers perspective, but objectively JVR is oft-injured and Flyers have ridic depth on offense. But damn, I dont like Schenn, hopefully he pulls it together

edit - btw what about Kovar as backup? Not sure about his contract situation, but he was a revelation this year, culminating in being starter for CZE in WCH

Don't know much about Kovar, but it seems he had a good season last year and played well at the WC. I think the Flyers would have to sign him to an ELC first.

Their plan may be to do that and play him in the AHL next year and sign a veteran NHL guy. If Kovar continues to improve he may be in the NHL sooner rather than later.

Copper&blue gives some good reasons against stupid draft picks. Wish GMGM had read that before taking wilson.

Moroz's father is a client of my dad's. Pops says he's a great guy, so I'm pulling for the kid. Not exactly a glowing review from C&B though.

The only caveat is if it allows the Pens to sign both Parise AND Suter, and that just seems like a pipe dream.

Get it right. The order is go broke, tank, acquire generation talent.
Very surprised they didn't actually get something back for Z. Didn't have a great season, but he's signed to a decent contract. Not sure why Ray was so anxious to do an obvious cap dump well before he can even go after someone on July 1.

I really think he's going after Parise. He is the absolute ideal winger for Sid. I would love to see Shero get rid of Martin and target both Suter and Parise, but when Letang's contract comes up in two years, one of him or Suter would probably have to go. I see the Pens also trading Lovejoy and possibly one of Bortuzzo and Strait (whichever one they're not as high on) as the latter are both ready to step into the bottom pairing, but will have to clear waivers to be sent down (and won't clear). Despres is ready for the NHL and is going to be good. Only way he doesn't make it is if Morrow and/or Dumoulin beat him out for the job. Don't know a ton about Dumoulin, but sounds like he's ready to jump to the NHL as well and Morrow was our last cut last year. Both will probly at least get a cup of coffee at some point this year. Don't see Engelland losing his spot because he's our only heavyweight at this point and Shero likes having one around. Unless he moves back up to wing on the 4th line (I believe he used to). Maybe a utility guy. Wouldn't mind seeing Niskanen signed for 2-2.25, but might not be totally necessary.

Something like

Parise-Crosby-Dupuis
Neal-Malkin-Kunitz
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Tangradi-Vitale-Adams
Jeffrey

Letang-Orpik
Suter-Despres
Strait/Niskanen-Engelland
Strait/Bortuzzo

Now obv this is pretty wishful thinking, but not beyond the realm of possibility. I personally think Parise is fairly likely and the Pens will become even more hated as they'll prob have the two best lines in hockey (when healthy). But if Shero somehow works his magic and replaces Martin with Suter they will be the Miami Heat of the NHL.

Just wanted to share with my favourite 2p2 community that I just received an offer of admission to McMaster's co-op MBA program, so it looks like I might be able to provide you guys with a few more Mac hockey TR's over the next 2 seasons.

To the guys who gave me PM's over the last year or so with words of encouragement and motivation, thank you so much. I'm pretty pumped that I might yet actually make something out of my life!

How highly did the Blue Jackets value defenseman Ryan Murray before taking him with the No. 2 overall pick in Friday's first round of the NHL Draft? Enough to turn down an eye-opening offer from the New York Islanders, who, according to numerous NHL sources, offered all of their picks -- one in each round -- for the right to move up from No. 4 to No. 2 for Murray.

That's right, for the Jackets' No. 2 pick, the Islanders offered pick Nos. 4, 34, 65, 103, 125, 155 and 185. The bounty would have given the Jackets the following picks: 4, 31, 34, 62, 65, 95, 103, 125, 152, 155, 182 and 185. And if that weren't enough, the Jackets could have had the Kings' No. 30 if they wanted it.
