there's talks of us drafting some 100 pound clown named Teuro Teieuviieouahrmen

wtf is this ****, draft Yakupov or Grigorenko. it's not that complicated.

I made a bet yesterday on the field vs yakupov. Every interview reads ike the oilers are taking murray.

I dont care. Both are awesome.

Is there an increase in the whole "he's Russian, so he'll stay in the KHL" thinking this year? I don't really understand it. It started with Grigorenko, but now it's gone to Yakupov, and I've even read rumors that Galchenyuk might be a liability because he'll want to play in Russia. Wat? The dude seems pretty committed to the USA, afaik.

So is there an increase? Why? Is it just the improving KHL? The fact that Grigorenko had the same junior team as Radulov? Just straight up xenophobia stuff? Someone help me understand.

edit: This might have been happening the same every year, and I'm just finally paying attention to the draft because the Leafs have a pick.

I don't think it's any of that w/ Yakupov - he's been pretty up front about wanting to only play in the NHL and that he'd also prefer to play for a Canadian team. Really don't see why Edmonton wouldn't just move back if they plan on taking Murray.

Grigorenko hates his KHL team. There's no way he's going back.

This has been going on for a while, tbh. I think it's why Cherepanov fell in the 2007 draft. Nikita Filatov's attitude was garbage and part of it is because he could always run to the KHL. I think it's part of why Kiril Kabanov fell as far as he did. The issue isn't necessarily that the player will jump to the KHL - although that's clearly a fear - but it's that he can use the KHL as a bargaining chip. It's unpredictable - you never know what they are going to offer to lure someone over there. And they can leave at any time during the season.

Dude was born in Milwaukee. But PuckDaddy had a headline yesterday titled "Alex Galchenyuk tired of KHL speculation, injury questions; ready for NHL impact", which really lead to me asking this.

Ryan Murray scored a hat trick in his own net vs the Commies in the WJC.

I'll lose my mind if Habs draft that ****ing loser. Please help us out Oilers.

yeah Jay Onrait is great

if there are any Galchenyuk to KHL rumours they seem pretty weird. i mean he played in the CHL, and even says he's an American, not a Russian. i thought this was one of the reasons he's been climnbing in the rankings, that he's totally committed to playing over here.

Murray seems like he could have bust potential. i've seen him play more than a few times now and he's never looked all that great. and what upside does he have? he's supposedly not an offensive guy really, he's not huge so being a shutdown guy is meh. so he's what, a homeless man's Lidstrom? who does he compare to?

Spoiler:
speaking of prospects, anyone watch that Cherry/Orr CHL Top Prospects Game last night? [censored] was it boring. random observations:

- Paul Reinhert's kid scored
- apparently there's another Sutter coming up (son of Rich or Ron, i forget)
- Grigorenko was playing hurt
- Yakupov wasn't there (afaik)
- Ryan Murray had a real Huddy-esque shift early (continuing on from his stellar WJ play)
- Mathew Dumba leveled some kid then fought over it
- Derrick Pouliot had a strong game, among the best players i'd say
- Tanner Pearson played well and had like a million chances, but kept getting robbed by...
- ...this Matthew Murray kid who is Jack Campbell's backup in the OHL, he was one of the MVP's
- Martin Frk looked alright
- Branden Troock scored a nice GWG on the PP in the last minute for the 2-1 win, he was the other MVP

anyone else wasn't there or i didn't really notice. but i wasn't watching all that closely, and was flipping around a bit because it was kinda really boring at times.

who's bad!?

I have no problem with Edmonton taking Ryan Murray, but if they do it at 1st overall, then I'll be literally dumbfounded.

PITTSBURGH – Tim Thomas has waived his no-movement clause. The clause is in place until July 1, when the fourth and final year of Thomas’s contract begins.

Several teams have inquired about Thomas’s availability. GM Peter Chiarelli said those calls have been in relation to the cap floor, which currently projects to be approximately $54 million in 2012-13. Even if Thomas doesn’t play next season, an acquiring team could apply his $5 million annual cap hit toward its total number. Thomas is due $3 million in salary.

Chiarelli didn’t disclose the identities of the teams. Colorado, Nashville, and Phoenix currently project to be the bottom three teams in terms of cap commitments toward 2012-13.

The cap floor, however, could decrease upon the introduction of the next collective bargaining agreement.
Please someone take him!

if philly somehow snags subban/dansk/vasilevski with the 45th pick (or traded up to get it), they could have won that trade IMO.
