So apparently Bettman slowed talks by telling players the GMs want to dismantle some teams.

I think everything we hear from both sides via the media at this stage is just inconsequential and that no matter what, this thing gets done at the 11th hour. Maybe I'm just foolishly optimistic?

Re: Bettman Lockout III Thread (aka NHL Offseason: Now & Forever)

Mediation started again today, with the PA and league in separate hotels.

Now many on twitter saying that Bettman and Daly have gone to the hotel where the PA is to meet with them.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Well, if its a close as we're sensing it could be a very "good day" according to source.

PA hotel is buzzing in anticipation. Down to minimal issues...but, still not done. And definition of "minimal" may differ.

We're getting closer, boys!

Also, I wrote something about the new contract structure if anyone feels so compelled to take a look.

Who's winning? The owners or the players

The value/year of player contracts are going up, but they're giving up long-term insurance for it. Bigger market owners/teams won't benefit as much from this and smaller market owners/teams will.
