Either way,

I guess the two aren't mutually exclusive. One, I pick my battles carefully and I step up my game when necessary. Like Cam Ward or Brad Marchand or Jerome Iginla or whatever other GOCB playoff performer. That's how GOCBs get it done. I won't even bother if I'm not down with the girl and I have pretty high standards. I'm not some dog who throws a bone at everything who walks. There is a time and place to step it up.

Two, that old beta male virgin Taylor Swift listening side of me (that is still very much a big part of me) is what helped wheel in this situation, and can help wheel if you know how to use it. While the other guy was being standard guy creepy making stupid bull**** jokes and trying to get physically close and ****, I was busy asking her about her jewelry and nail polish and clothes and other stuff guys should have no business talking about. Age could have been a factor because maybe girls my age & older are into creepy guys whereas younger girls just want to have fun and talk about fun things.

Three, I was in the right situation. Some guys are good in clubs downtown Toronto dropping $100 on cover + drinks + cab to get laid. I'm not. But I am good hanging out in the country with a bunch of GOCBs and GOCGs. In fact, of all the girls I've hooked up with, ALL (four) of them were initiated in the country, at least north of Highway 7. I just feel more at home, more relaxed, and can thrive in that situation.

I guess all of these things came together and I was in my zone and that's how **** gets done. Throw me with a pile of girls in the VIP of a nightclub and I will look like Mark Visnentin out there. Let me cruise around the country in the Caddy with a couple 18-19 year old GOCG's and I'm ****ing Jordan Eberle. Or give me a piano and then I practically melt panties off.

I chose to be goaltender. When I was 8 years old in minor novice, I was tearing it up on the wing. I was an aggressive body player. I got a few kids down with clean hits, and started getting loads of penalties when refs finally started calling them. I was also one of the first to learn how to raise the puck and could dangle like nobody's business. I'd be sniping top cheese from the blueline when I was 8 y/o, seriously. It would be a 35 km/h floater flip shot, but it was what it was.

Anyways, our goalie really sucked, and we were losing games because of him. He was out of town around Christmas time for some family stuff while the team was in a tournament, so I asked to go in net to give it a shot. Turns out I was pretty ****ing good and got the team to the finals of that tournament. When you get in net, and you're good, and people tell you you're good, and you excite people by making great saves, that's the allure of being a goaltender at first. THAT's why you choose to be goalie. So I told the coach I wanted to stay in net, and that's how I became goalie.

Sometimes I do wonder what I'd have been like as a winger. I wasn't afraid to play the body, get dirty in the corners, could snip when needed, and had the intangible WIM. I'd like to think I'd play like a Getzlaf or Lucic. Eventually I started being more aggressive as a goalie because I wanted to get out more, and I'd start chasing down pucks, hitting guys at the blueline, making great breakout passes. One year we had this horrible Dman who had like 0G 16A -20 (he was the only minus on the team that year) and I had 7 assists in about half his games (since the goalies generally alternated each game.)

It's one of those things. You always wonder, but in the end I have no regrets because I had a pretty great minor hockey career in net.

A self-proclaimed GOCB misspelling uber GOCB Jarome Iginla's name has gotta be a mortal sin or something right?

Friend (girl) of mine in Calgary is texting me asking if I know a certain Allstar hockey player who wants to take her out tonight (via a friend set up).

Nope, but I used to work with a girl (30yo babe with gigantic fake boobs) who hooked up with Taylor Hall regularly for a bit. Once with Paajarvi too I think.

Although I'm pretty sure that's something anyone in Edmonton could say by now.

Since I always want to learn the context behind stuff like this, here is what my research taught me for any other non-Canucks:
